Episode 18: "Backlash"
(COLD OPEN - Previously Recorded.)
Female Voice: You know what it's like standing here without my Law tag team title belt.
(The scene opens with Kayla Winters standing outside LAW Arena.)
Kayla Winters: What irks me the most was the fact that despite the fact the Law purposely stacked the odds against Sweet Winters, we were clearly the dominant team in the match, but with that being, we are no longer the tag team champions, so congratulations LAW you finally got what you wanted.
(Kayla smirks.)
Kayla Winters: But with that being said, I demand a rematch for our tag team champions, so you Sakaraba Sisters you may have figured out how to climb a ladder and retrieve the tag team title, but you never physically or technically beat Roxy and me for them and the reason behind that is very simple, you can’t beat up, no team in LAW or Jet can beat us and we’ve already proven that more time than I can count, and this week, Sweet Winters are going to barge into LAW and demand our rematch, and if we don’t get, what happens will be managements fault. See you on April eighth.
(A recap from LAW’s biggest event of the year, Lethal Hearts. A montage of the preliminaries are shown including a fan meet and greet with the roster, a performance by the band Dope, and the crowd taking their seats in the arena. Clips of April Song vs Miranda Minors is shown with April retaining her title after delivering a Swan Song Small Package Driver on a broken table. She then climbed the Lethal Ladder to obtain her belt. The next match was the Fatal 4-Way where former partners Ruby Ariel and Mikela Juhàsz joined forces against “Big Sexy” Santana and Jessica Hendrix for the majority of the match. After their alliance fell apart, Mikela took advantage of the chaos and pinned her own partner to win the match. Next was Sweet Winters defending their tag belts against the Sakaraba Sisters, and Sugar & Spice in a Lethal TLC Match. After a grueling back and forth spotfest, Yuki Sakaraba was able to grab the belts to secure the victory. In the main event, Roni de Vil went to war with Revy in a Lethal Ladder Match for the Lethal Angel Championship. After a grueling fighting, Roni managed to put Revy down to win the vacated title.)
(“I am the Fire” by Halestorm plays as the NEW intro to Monday Night LAW plays, showing the new champions with their titles. The camera opens to a packed roaring crowd in Boyle Heights, CA)
SCREEN BAR: Live! From the LAW Arena!
Melissa Flash: We are just two weeks removed from LAW’s biggest event of the year, Lethal Hearts! And my what it show it was!
Kat Ricci: We have two NEW champions in the form of the Sakaraba Sisters and Roni de Vil! The Walter Pyramid was sold out as LAW put on one of it’s greatest shows in the history of the promotion!
Melissa Flash: We are now on the road to Lethal Takeover, and the official end to the season! JET and LAW will come together in celebration to an action packed season!
Kat Ricci: As for tonight, we will be dealing with the fallout of Lethal Hearts, starting from an appearance of our president! Let’s go over to our NEW ring announcer London Morris!
London Morris: Please welcome, LAW President, Cameron Ella Ava!
(“ULTRAnumb” by Blue Stahli plays as Cameron Ella Ava walks out to a standing ovation. She waves at the audience as she makes her way to the ring.)
Melissa Flash: And here is the woman who’s responsible for LAW’s success!
Kat Ricci: President Ava has taken this company and revived it back to its glory days! But tonight she’s here to address something else - or rather someone else.
(Cameron climbs into the ring and takes the mic from London Morris.)
Cameron Ella Ava: Thank you, London. First off, I would like to congratulate Natasha Night on her signing with Odyssey! We here at LAW wish you the best!
(Crowd applause)
Cameron Ella Ava: Now, for the second thing. I personally want to thank each and every one of you here in the audience and at home for an amazing turnout for Lethal Hearts! It was a four match card, but what a card it was! We look forward to making our second season better than the first!
(Crowd cheers)
Cameron Ella Ava: Now on to business. Revy, get your butt out here.
("VORACITY” by Myth and Roid plays as Revy walks out with a pensive expression and makes her way to the ring.)
Melissa Flash: The tension is so thick you can cut it with a knife. Cam and Revy made a deal that if she lost the Lethal Ladder Match, she will leave LAW and never come back.
Kat Ricci: I hope Cam reconsiders their deal. Revy put on one of the greatest performances of her career, and the LAW brand could use another talented member of our already impressive roster.
(Revy climbs into the ring and is given a mic. She turns to Cameron who begins to speak.)
Cameron Ella Ava: Personal feelings aside, you performed beyond my expectations, Revy. Throughout this entire tournament and the main event you show and proved that you belong here as much as any other woman in that locker room. But alas, a deal is a deal. It was win or go home.
(Cam sighs and pauses for a moment.)
Cameron Ella Ava: Time to go home.
(Revy starts to panic as the crowd reacts to a chorus of boos.)
Revy: C-Cam! I know we made a deal, but is there any way you could reconsider!? I mean I left EVERYTHING in that ring! I never fought so hard for something in my life! I came here because I know I was made for this place! LAW and I belong together, Cam! I don't want to wrestle anywhere else! This is the perfect place, the perfect platform to prove that I was always held back in that other place!. Things may have not gone my way during the Lethal Ladder Match, but I went out there and proved that I could deliver in whatever match given to me, and you would be passing up on a potential star in the making! So why not give Revy-chan a chance, huh?
(Cam doesn’t say anything, which prompts Revy to continue.)
Revy: You’re close with my brother Moongoose! He always your back even when he didn't agree with her decisions - like who married. But, no matter what, he’ll always defend you haters, and eventually he came around! Now, Cameron…
(Revy steps forward)
Revy: Why can’t you support your friend in believing that his no good sister has found some good in wanting to be with this promotion. Don’t make this personal; my presence here isn’t just good for me, but for LAW as a whole!
Crowd: SIGN HER NOW! SIGN HER NOW! SIGN HER NOW!
Melissa Flash: Cam’s gone silent. It looks like she’s actually taking this into consideration!
(Cam looks at Revy, who looking around at the crowd. Cam looks at well and then back at Revy.)
Cameron Ella Ava: (grumbles) Fine, you’re hired!
(The crowd breaks out in a pop as Revy jumps up and down in glee. Cameron raises a hand.)
Cameron Ella Ava: I wouldn’t be so quick to celebrate, because your first match as a signed wrestler starts...NOW!
("Children of The Son" by Pipe Choir plays as Miranda Minors comes out, her eyes filled with anger and frustration.)
Melissa Flash: Revy finally got what she wanted - but at what cost?
Kat Ricci: Only time will tell. Right now she has an angry Miranda Minors to deal with. After failing to capture the Lethal Specialist Championship, it’s easy to see why Miranda has a chip on her shoulder!
(Revy prepares for battle as Cameron exits the ring.)
Singles Match
Revy vs Miranda Minors
Miranda and Revy meet in the center of the ring. Miranda and Revy face to face as they glare at one another. Miranda points down towards Revy shoes, telling her shoes is untied. Miranda mounts Revy and unleashes an onslaught of lefts and right, but Revy manages to reverse the situation. Revy with a hold of Minor’s head now as she repeatedly slams her head. Miranda tosses Revy off, but Revy comes back in with a swift kick to the gut. Revy picks Miranda up, and tosses her with a belly to belly suplex!Kat Ricci: Miranda quickly springs back up, only for Revy to knock her back down with a Running Lariat, but no, Miranda manages to latch on to Revy’s arm, and she has Revy pinned down to the ground with an armbar.
Revy squirms, trying to break out, but Minors pulls the arm further back. Revy desperately crawling to the ropes, and manages to make it to the bottom. Miranda breaks the hold per the referee, but Minors slides out of the ring, pulls Revy’s head over the top rope, and she is choking the brilliant fighter. Official forcing Miranda to break the hold once more as she makes full use of the count to five. And Miranda with a big heel kick to the side of Revy’s head. Minors isn’t done, she pulls Revy further out from the bottom ropes now, Revy hanging from the apron now, but Miranda has something devious in mind. Miranda with the Dragon Suplex to the outside floor, dropping Revy on the ground! Revy looks out cold as Miranda quickly tries to drag her body back into the ring. Miranda rolls her back in, she hooks the leg now. But only a 2 count. Miranda drops the knee to the face of the down Revy, following up with a few more as the crowd booes.
Melissa Flash: Miranda goes for the Swinging Leg Hook Fireman’s Carry Slam she calls the Miranda’s Right, but manages slide behind Miranda and apply the sleeper hold.
Revy refusing to let go as Miranda pushes her into the corner. Revy continues to apply pressure as Miranda backs her into the corner as officials are forcing Revy to let go. Revy has no chose or risk disqualification, and the moment Minors is releases, nails Revy with a back elbow shot to the face. Revy staggers out of the corner, Miranda with a heel kick, but Revy manages to grab her foot. Revy with a devious smile on her face as Miranda begs for mercy, but Revy with a Dragon Screw. Miranda clutches to her leg now as Revy drags Miranda into the corner! Revy stomping a mudhole into Miranda now, Minors looking like she had the life stomped out of her, but Revy with a shooting peach attack, bouncing Miranda’s head against the second turnbuckle. Revy pulls Miranda out of the corner now, she climbs up to the second top ropes, Revy taking her sweet time as she goes for the elbow drop, only for Miranda to roll out of the way. Miranda hits that spinning neckbreaker, Spellbound! Miranda goes for the cover once more, only for Revy to kick out.
Kat Ricci: Minors goes for the Miranda’s Rights once more, only for Revy to reverse it once more. She goes for the Recoil, but Miranda counters as well. She goes for the Enchanted Kick! But Revy manages to duck, and pulls her into a Stun-Gun! Miranda bounces off the top ropes, and Revy hits the Three Count! Knee to the Face! Hooks the Leg!
Melissa Flash: One, Two, But Miranda kicks out! It was close!
Revy is arguing with the referee now. Miranda rolling out of the ring now as we speak. Revy is still arguing with the ref, but Miranda is ringside, and she is pulling out a steel chair! Minors slides it into the ring, but Revy spots this! Miranda slides into the ring, but Revy gets a hold of the chair first. Revy’s eyes light up like Christmas came early as Miranda drops to her knees and begs for mercy. Revy goes for the swing, but the referee grabs the chair out of Revy’s hands! Revy trying to explain that Miranda brought it into the ring first, but that means nothing in what is a wrestling match! Miranda takes advantage and hits the Springboard Bulldog! Leslie’s Wild Ride! She rolls Revy up now, who tries to power out, but Miranda a hold of Revy’s tights! Ring the bell!
Melissa Flash: The match is over. Miranda pulled a fast one over Revy to secure a win! Not sure how the loss here tonight will affect Cameron’s decision in regards to Revy tonight, who put up a good fight, but in the end, Miranda Minors might had proven how unfit Revy is for Lethal Angels of Wrestling.
(The camera opens to Mikela Juhász walking into the office of LAW GM Madam Vega.)
Madam Vega: Thank you for coming, Mikela. Take a seat.
(Mikela sits down with a smirk on her face.)
Mikela Juhász: I suppose that my victory from Lethal Hearts as earned me a shot at the new champion?
(Madam Vega chuckles and shakes her head.)
Madam Vega: I admire your tenacity. While your opportunity does include a title shot, it’s not against the one you think. You will face off against April Song for the Lethal Specialist Championship...in the match of your choice.
Mikela Juhász: (in disbelief) Really?
Madam Vega: (grin) Really.
(Mikela nods several times before she says anything else.)
Mikela Juhász: Okay, okay. Mind if I sit on this for a while?
Madam Vega: Sure, take your time.
(Mikela nods several more times and stands up. She looks like she’s about to say something to Madam Vega, but she refrains and leaves the office.)
Singles Match
Yuki Sakaraba w/Rina Sakaraba vs. Jessica Hendrix
One half of the new Lethal Tag Team Champions Yuki Sakaraba is in action as she took on upstart Jessica Hendrix. In the early going, we saw Yuki getting the advantage by using her veteran experience to get early control of the match against one of the newer members of the Odyssey Roster. Jessica Hendrix was to finally get the match on her side with reversal of Yuki’s Super Galactic Collider with a German Suplex.
Melissa Flash: Jessica is holding her own against one-half of the new champions. If she can keep up the momentum, she can see a victory tonight!
Yuki seems to have landed hard on her neck as Jessica begins to work on it for a majority of the match as she was able to nullify anything that Yuki could do by returning to the neck. There were multiple close calls for Jessica as she almost put away the tag champ with a Sit-Out Facebuster but Yuki kicked out with a close two count. Yuki soon got her comeback going as she blocked a superkick attempt from Jessica Hendrix and landed a big-time German Suplex! The crowd exploded as Yuki began to mount her comeback, firing hard shots to Jessica Hendrix. The finishing stretch came in as Yuki attempted a Cosmic Explosion but Hendrix had the wherewithal to push Yuki into the corner and unintentionally collide with the referee! The ref is down as Hendrix escapes only to be hit with a Super Galactic Collider! Suddenly from behind Rina is attacked by SWEET ROXY! Roxy just laid Rina out with a Tramp Stamp! Yuki looks at Roxy and yells at her! She turns around only to be hit with -
Melissa Flash: SPECIAL K BY KAYLA WINTERS! THE SPEAR LANDED AS SWEET WINTERS HAVE LAID OUT BOTH SAKARABA SISTERS!
Kat Ricci: This is uncalled for! Not like this!
The damage is done as Kayla drags the downed Jessica Hendrix over Yuki Sakaraba before leaving the ring with her tag partner. The ref has regained consciousness as the crowd boo the actions of Sweet Winters. Jessica Hendrix has just beaten Yuki Sakaraba without knowing of what Sweet Winters have done.
(Yuki Sakaraba is helped up by her sister Rina as Sweet Winters grab mics from ringside.)
Kat Ricci: Sweet Winters just can’t let it go, can they? Rina and Yuki earned those tag belts!
Melissa Flash: I doubt Roxy and Kayla care about that; especially after the way the Lethal TLC ended. One could argue that Kayla knocking Jessica off the ladder with that Special K spear made it possible for Yuki to take advantage of the situation.
Kat Ricci: That’s on Sweet Winters though!
Melissa Flash: I doubt they see it that way.
(Roxy and Kayla stop in front of the ring, glaring at the Sakaraba Sisters, who struggle to get back on their feet Kayla is the first to take a mic and begins to speak.)
Kayla Winters: Now you know how it feels to have someone take something from you.
(Roxy leans in to the mic)
Sweet Roxy: And with that, it’s time to give us what’s rightfully ours!
Kayla Winters: My spear saved your ass Yuki. It bought you time to climb up there and live out your girlhood dream!
Sweet Roxy: But all dreams must come to an end - the reality is that those belts belong with Sweet Winters.
Rina Sakaraba: Over our dead bodies!
(Yuki nods and both sisters raise their belts)
Kayla Winters: (smirks) Well, as we’ve just demonstrated that can be arranged…
(Just as Sweet Winters is about to slide back into the ring, Madam Vega walks out to diffuse the situation)
Madam Vega: I’d think twice if I was you. Nothing has ever come out of doing something as stupid as throwing away an opportunity.
(Sweet Winters stop for a moment and turn around, confused)
Madam Vega: Normally I would say ‘better luck next time’, but the two of you fought like the devil himself in that TLC match. So I’ll tell you what - at Lethal Takeover you’ll get your rematch for the Lethal Tag Team Champions. But, if the Sakaraba Sisters retain, you two leave them alone. Got it?
Kayla Winters: Fine.
Sweet Roxy: (shrugs) Whatever.
Madam Vega: Rina, Yuki, what say you?
Yuki Sakaraba: My sister and I will defend these belts anytime, anywhere!
Rina Sakaraba: Right!
Madam Vega: Welp, looks like we have a match ladies and gentlemen! And Sweet Winters? If either of you pull anymore B.S. you can kiss that opportunity goodbye!
(“Cherry Bomb” by The Runaways play as Madam Vega walks to the back. Meanwhile, Sweet Winters look up at the Sakaraba Sisters lean against the ropes, their titles raised towards their opponents.)
Melissa Flash: The second match has been announced for for Lethal Takeover!
Kat Ricci: I wonder what Sugar & Spice thinks of this.
Melissa Flash: Well you heard Vega - Sweet Winters’ performance at Lethal Hearts was enough to grant them a chance to get their belts back! As for Sugar & Spice, we’re over a month away till Lethal Takeover. Speaking of which, I’m curious who the Lethal Angel champion will be facing. Hopefully we’ll find that out later tonight!
Main Event - Singles Match
April Song vs Sidney Knight
The match starts off with a collar and elbow tie-up in the middle of the ring. April uses her experience to try and get the best of Sidney, but her catch background keeps her one step ahead. This soon changes as April counters a standing switch and catches Sidney with a double-leg takedown, followed by several forearms and knees to Sid's right leg. Knight fails to fight her off and instead finds herself at April's mercy. Song applies a Boston Crab, but Sid manages to reach the ropes in time. April is forced to break the hold and hits the ropes to deliver an Axe Bomber as Sid tries to recover. The Axe Bomber is well scouted and Knight counters with a back body drop. Song lands on the apron but is knocked off with an enzuigiri to the face. Feeding of the crowd and Jessica, Sidney goes for a suicide dive and connects, but lands awkwardly on her foot. Knight falls down, grabbing her ankle in pain. Jessica walks over and checks on her tag partner to see if she’s okay. Meanwhile, April is pacing back and forth in the ring as the ref remains between her and her opponent.
Melissa Flash: Knight may have twisted her ankle with that landing.
Kat Ricci: April Song is not wasting any time! She wants to capitalize on the exposed weakness as quickly as possible!
April retaliates with a flurry of strikes, not giving Sidney a chance to fight back. She delivers several swift kicks to her leg and throws her back into the ring. Sidney tries to stand, but it's too much pressure and she falls to a knee. Song hits Widowmaker (Inverted stomp facebreaker) and goes for the pin but Sid kicks out at two. Frustrated, April attempts a Prison Lock (Kneeling figure-four leglock), but Sidney counters with a drop toehold. She attempts to capitalize, but her broken ankle becomes too much and Song makes things worse with a dragon screw. Sidney falls down once more and April sees opportunity in her opponent’s vulnerable state. She seizes Sidney’s legs one more time and attempts a second Prison Lock. It doesn’t take long for Knight to submit to the Lethal Specialist Champion. After the bell rings, Jessica Rose slides into the ring and pushes April away to check on her tag partner.
Melissa Flash: Things don’t look good for Sidney Knight. Medical officials are entering the ring to check on her condition. I doubt she can stand on her own.
Kat Ricci: The crowd is booing April, but what do you expect her to do? She found a weakness and exploited it! This is pro wrestling and moments like this shows that it isn’t a joke!
Melissa Flash: Let’s hope that this isn’t a serious injury. We’ll keep everyone posted on Sidney’s condition.
(AD: LAW & JET presents Lethal Takeover! Live May 18th from the Kobe Memorial Hall in Kobe, Japan!)
(LAW General Manager Madam Vega is standing in the middle of the ring.)
Madam Vega: Eight women entered...one woman walked out your NEW Lethal Angel Champion!
(The crowd cheers loudly)
Madam Vega: She was denied at Limelight, but she wouldn't let her dream die! Please welcome Roni de Vil!
("Devil" by Shinedown plays as Roni de Vil walks out with the belt over her shoulder. She takes a moment to grin at the cheering crowd then continues to make her way to the ring. She climbs into the ring and takes a mic from Madam Vega.)
Roni de Vil: What's happening Boyle Heights!? Woo! They said it couldn't be done, but look at me now mama!
(Roni raises her title as Madam Vega applauds with the audience.)
Madam Vega: As the woman you who watched you grow from a fiesty cub to a ferocious wolf, I am proud to have you as our world champion. You deserve this and will become a great champion my dear.
Roni de Vil: I remember the days you used to put me and the other through the ringer back at your wrestling school. It prepared me for anything, such as fighting harder for something that should have already been mine. I was supposed to win this at Limelight, but I was robbed by Miranda Minors! Fortunately, I made everything right again at Lethal Hearts-
Female Voice: Oh god! Would someone put an end to this circle jerk!?
(Miranda Minors comes out with a mic and a look of disgust on her face. She walks towards the ring and climbs inside. She looks at Madam Vega and shakes her head.)
Miranda Minors: I guess you're ecstatic to have your golden girl as the champion! Your favoritism is so obvious you might as well not had a tournament at all! Should've put the belt on her and not wasted anyone's time!
(Roni glares at Miranda, who returns the gesture.)
Miranda Minors: But you know what? Since it’s technically the end of the season, I want to go out with a bang. My ban is lifted so it's time I set my sights on the LAW Championship and most importantly...
(Miranda takes a step to have a stare down with Roni.)
Miranda Minors: You.
Roni de Vil: You know what bitch!? We can do this right-
(Madam Vega gets in-between the girls and shakes her head)
Madam Vega: She isn’t worth your time, Roni. Miranda! Get the hell out of the ring!
(Miranda stands there with anger in her eyes before leaving. The camera closes with Miranda looking back at Vega and Roni with an odd smirk on her face, unnerving noth women in the ring.)
(LAW and IJWF logos appear on the screen.)
