The live stream feed quickly faded in. Rio Kurokawa’s face promptly appeared. She quickly stretched out her arms and adjusted the recording device. It caused the picture to zoom out just a bit and reveal some of her surroundings. She was seated on metal chair inside of what appeared to be a conference room. Her body was covered by a black and purple dress, along with a purple cardigan. And to complete her look, she wore a pair of black Bandolino booties.
Nothing too crazy.
Though, what was probably more telling was the look on her face. Was she angry? Perhaps. Nonetheless, the wrinkles in her bow revealed clear frustration. The audible sigh before she spoke indicated the same.
“I imagine that this video might ruffle some feathers,” Rio said in Japanese as she crossed her her legs. “If it does? So be it. Action doesn’t occur by simply sitting in silence. And if might time in Joshi Extreme Takeover has revealed anything, it’s that I’ll speak my mind.”
She took a quick moment before she continued on.
“On JET 19, Ms. Kudo announced the dissolution of the JET Trios Championships. Me and my teammates were forced to vacate the championships and relinquish the belts over to her. Her little announcement also lead to news that JET would be holding a Tag Team Championship Tournament.” She paused for a second. “I order to make things right, she and the board of directors decided that Tomoyo and myself would get an automatic bye into the finals. I assume that order was supposed to appease our anger—
“Well, the news certainly hasn’t appeased mine.”
She shook her head.
“Let me give you all some context.
“Despite the fact that I have been wrestling for about five or so years, I’ve never truly had a place to call my ‘home.’ The promotions that I’d worked in previously? Some were small time. Some were fly-by-night. Needless to same, there was little room for me to grow and advance.
“That changed when I came to JET, or so I thought—” Rio said.
“People have joined JET for various different reasons. Me? For me, JET symbolized opportunity. It was the first time that I wouldn’t be held back. It was the first time that I’d finally be able to reach towards the sky. It would be the first that I’d truly get to show the world how fucking great I am in the ring.”
She nodded her head. “The JET Trios Championship? It was the first championship belt that I had the privilege of holding—” Rio’s words trailed off as she glared into the camera. “And you took that away from me, Ms. Kudo. You took away something that I’ve been fighting five long years to achieve. You blemished one of the most joyous moments in my career when you and the board decided to strip my team of its belts…
“And you think that a bye to the finals of this tournament makes up for all of that? I the place that I’m suppose to consider my home?”
She shook her head.
“No. No it doesn’t.”
Rio let silence linger a bit before she spoke up again.
“I’m not in the business of making threats. Most people who make them are unable to back them up. However, I think it’s only fair that I issue a warning. Win, lose, or draw, you’re going to see a different Rio Kurokawa out there in the ring from now on. Nice Rio keeps taken advantage of; she keeps getting stepped on. So you won’t get Nice Rio in JET anymore.
“No. It seems like JET deserves Aggressive Rio. It seems like JET deserves Violent Rio. Well, ask and you shall receive.”
The camera rested on Rio for a couple of seconds before she reaches out and shut the recording device off. The feed went dead.
