Episode 20: Lethal Contract
(RECAP: a montage of LAW 19 is shown. Jessica Rose is interviewed about Sidney Knight’s condition, who could see herself out of action for the next few weeks to months. Revy is given advice by Madam Vega to issue a challenge for Lethal Takeover. Kayla Winters is distracted by the Sakaraba Sisters during her match, costing her a victory over Jessica Hendrix. April Song approaches Mikela Juhász to inquire about which match she’ll be choosing at Lethal Takeover. Mikela plays coy about her decision, hinting that it’ll be revealed next week. During the main event of Roni de Vil vs Mikela Juhász, Miranda interferes and starts attacking Roni. When Madam Vega comes out, she demands a title match against Roni, or else she will injure the LAW Champion. After some hesitation, Madam Vega gives in and grants Miranda a match opportunity.)
(“I Am the Fire” by Halestorm plays as the intro to Monday Night LAW is shown.)
(SCREEN BAR - Live! From Boyle Heights!)
Melissa Flash: Welcome to another jam packed episode of Monday Night LAW! I’m Melissa Flash and with me is my partner in crime, Kat Ricci!
Kat Ricci: We are two weeks away from The LAW/JET Alliance anniversary show, Lethal Takeover! Tonight we’ll be witnessed to the contract signing of LAW Champ Roni de Vil vs challenger Miranda Minors!
Melissa Flash: Also we’ll find out which match Mikela Juhász has chosen to fight LAW Specialist Champion April Song in!
Kat Ricci: But first, singles action!
Singles Match: Videl Rose vs Jessica Rose (No Relation)
The match starts off with a friendly handshake, followed by both women circling each other. After some chain wrestling, Videl succeeds with a neck wrench. Jessica tries to break the hold, but Videl transitions into a reverse STO. On the ground, Videl applies a dragon sleeper, Jessica throws several vicious elbows to break out of the hold and crawls her way to the ropes. She gets to her feet and reverses a running clothesline with a back body drop. Videl lands on the apron but gets knocked off by a stiff roundhouse from Rose. Seizing the moment, Jessica runs off the ramp, and hits Videl with a Diving Meteora! The fans are going nuts as Jessica Rose seems to be getting her groove back. She picks up Videl and rolls her into the ring for the pin attempt. Videl kicked out at two, much to Jessica's dismay. She picks up Videl and whips her to the corner. Jessica charges and hits a running dropkick! She rolls Video from out the corner and hits her with a Super Driver Kick (Superkick to a Kneeling Opponent).
Melissa Flash: Jessica Rose has Videl Rose on the ropes and we could see a victory here tonight!
Kat Ricci: Jessica is climbing to the top. TEMPEST SPLASH! No dice! Videl rolled out of the way from the frog splash!
Videl tries to take advantage with a pin, but Jessica kicks out at two-and-a-half. Videl picks her up and whips Jessica to the ropes. She leapfrogs over on the rebound and catches Jessica with a Hurricanrana DDT. She turns to the crowd to hype them up as she gets ready for her signature. She hits a Knee Bullet II (Jumping Double Knee Drop followed by a Standing Moonsault Double Knee Drop) and climbs the nearest turnbuckle, waiting patiently for her opponent to get to her feet. Using everything in her power, Jessica kip-ups as Videl jumps for the corkscrew stunner and counters with a dropkick! She quickly maneuvered over to a prone Videl and deadlifts her into a Rock The Dragon Suplex (Snap Dragon Suplex) and transitions into Triangle Lancer (Rolling Inverted Fujiwara)! Before she could lock it in, Videl uses the momentum to counter into a roll-up for the surprise three count victory!
Winner: Videl Rose
Melissa Flash: What a surprise victory by Videl Rose! I really thought Jessica Rose had it!
Kat Ricci: So did she! Heck, so did all of us! Somehow Videl had enough in her to use the momentum in her favor! Videl is approaching Jessica and off hers a hand.
Melissa Flash: Jessica takes it and Videl helps her to her feet. What a display of good sportsmanship. Despite everything, Jessica is still trying to find a way to manage without Sidney.
Kat Ricci: Between The Sugar Girls in OWA and Sugar & Spice here in LAW, Jessica has been in the tag scene for the past year. Being a singles competitor is something she needs to get used to - at least for the time being.
Tag Match: The Sakaraba Sisters (Yuki and Rina Sakaraba) vs. Cassidy Vega and Kiki Kumiko
Yuki Sakaraba and Cassidy Vega kick things off in the match. The two lock up, with Cassidy scoring an easy hip toss. She stomps on Yuki several times and hit the ropes for a leg drop. She follows up with a series of mounted punches until the ref is forced to separate them. Cassidy sticks her tongue out at Rina and waits for Yuki to get to her feet. Cassidy whips Yuki to the corner and hits a Shining Wizard in the corner! Kiki tags herself in as Cassidy flips Yuki into a seated position. Kiki hits the ropes and hits Yuki with a basement front dropkick. Kiki picks up Yuki and slaps her across the face, followed by an “L” gesture, followed by an inverted atomic drop. The impact made Yuki bounce against the ropes, but she managed to avoid an incoming Mafia Kick from Kiki. The Cyberpunk Princess found her leg caught on the third rope and became victim to a vicious Super Galactic Collider (Lariat)! Yuki covers her, but Kiki puts a foot on the ropes.
Melissa Flash: Great ring awareness from the newest rookie from Hollywood Fight Club!
Kat Ricci: Cassidy Vega is breathing a sigh of relief! She and her partner are looking for a strong showing for their LAW debut!
As Yuki gets up, she drags her opponent to the corner and tags in Rina who climbs to the top and delivers a spot on elbow drop. She sits up Kiki and applies a sleeper hold! Kiki kicks her feet in the air, trying to fight out of it. Rina keeps the hold locked as the two stand up, but Kiki counters with a stunner! Rina bounces several feet in the air and hits the mat hard! Kiki runs over to Cassidy, but Rina grabs her leg, making her fall flat on her face. Kiki kicks her away and makes the dive to tag in Cassidy, who charges in like a speeding bullet! She hits Rina with a front dropkick to the back and catches Yuki with a stiff forearm out of nowhere. She picks up Rina and hits a springboard bulldog, followed by a pin. Rina kicks out at two. Cassidy wastes no time grabbing Rina’s arm to apply The Vega Vice (Kneeling Fujiwara Armbar). Rina starts screaming in pain. Yuki slides in to break the hold and gets kicked in the face by Kiki for her efforts. She helps up Cassidy and the two pull off a double powerbomb. Cassidy maintains the hold for a pin while Kiki tosses Yuki out of the ring and goes after her.
Melissa Flash: Rina kicks out at two-and-a-half!
Kat Ricci: Cassidy is losing patience. They’re getting closer to a win, but the Sakaraba Sisters refuse to lose!
The ref begins the five count, forcing Kiki and Yuki back to their respective corners. Cassidy picks up Rina and whips her to the corner, but Rina counters it into a Belly to Belly Suplex. As the crowd cheers them on, Rina crawls over to Yuki and tags her in! Yuki jumps over the ropes and hits a Mass Extinction (Springboard Double Footstomp) to the chest of Cassidy, knocking her on her back. Kiki attempts to interfere, but she ends up on the bad end of another Super Galactic Collider. Yuki turns around just in time to grab a recovering Cassidy and hit Kawaī Chōshinsei (Burning Hammer) for the victory.
Winner: Sakaraba Sisters
Winner: Sakaraba Sisters
Kat Ricci: What excellent work by the Sakaraba Sisters! Once again they prove why they’re the Lethal- oh no, here comes Sweet Winters! What they hell do they want!?
Melissa Flash: You know exactly what they want!
(Sweet Roxy and Kayla Winters slide into the ring and start attacking the Sakaraba Sisters. Kayla delivers a Spear to Rina while Roxy hits Yuki with a Tramp Stamp. Kayla grabs a mic and addresses the fallen tag champs.)
Kayla Winters: We are getting really tired of sitting backstage and watching unworthy trash like you two make a mockery of the Lethal Tag Team Championships!
Sweet Roxy: Which by the way belongs to Sweet Winters!
Kayla Winters: Come Lethal Takeover we’ll prove once and for all that your victory was nothing more than a FLUKE.
Sweet Roxy: Face it cream puffs - you’re not on our level. Never have never will be. We both held titles all over the world and changed the dynamics of the LAW tag scene.
Kayla Winters: And to prove our point, we’ll be doing this in your own home country!
(Sweet Winters grab the tag belts from the ref and holds them high for all to see.)
Melissa Flash: Looks like Sweet Winters made it clear - They will walk out of Japan two-time Lethal Tag Champs!
(Commercial Break: Season 2 Premiere for OWA’s Saturday Night Odyssey!)
Ringside
(Revy is standing in the middle of the ring with a mic in hand)
Revy: last week I had a talk with the boss about my future here at LAW and she offered some advice: instead of waiting for a challenge, seek them out myself. So that’s why I’m out here tonight good people of Boyle Heights. I’m out here to prove that I’m ready to be placed on the Lethal Takeover card, ready to prove to Cameron that she did good signing me, and ready to prove to all of you that I still have a lot of fight left in me! So without further ado...who wants to make history with ‘ol Revy-chan!? Who wants to step up to the plate and give the folks a night they won’t forget!?
(There is nothing but silence and the murmur of the crowd as Revy paces around the ring.)
Revy: Don’t be shy ladies. I don’t bite...much.
(Revy paces around a couple of more times, but still no response.)
Revy: (annoyed) If no one comes out, I’m going to go back there and make my own match happen the hard way!
(Before Revy leaves the ring, "Dark Storms" by Our Last Night plays as LAW newcomer Evelyn Bennett comes out. She stands at the top of the stage, flashing an intimidating smile. She flexes her shoulders several times, her eyes locked onto Revy, who grins while nodding in approval to the cheering crowd.)
Melissa Flash: It looks like Revy got her wish! Newcomer Evelyn Bennett is shooting her shot!
Kat Ricci: I can’t help but be excited by this! It looks like Bennett’s learning quickly how people make themselves known around here!
(The camera focuses on Revy and Evelyn a bit longer before fading)
(Commercial Break: JET commercial)
Main Event: April Song vs “Big Sexy” Santana w/ Frankie Owens — Mikela Juhász on commentary
The match started off at a slow pace as April circled her opponent, trying to find a weak spot. Santana knows her size is giving the Lethal Specialist Champion caution and attempts to close in. She has April backed against the ropes as they lock-up with one another. The ref calls for a five-count and Santana breaks the hold in time and backs away with her hands up. April sees an opportunity and starts firing off a series of shoot kicks to the thigh. Mikela makes a comment about how April is a cheat. April attempts a double-leg takedown, but Santana barely moves. Santana counters with a stiff European Uppercut, knocking April down. She gets back to her feet and fires back with a European Uppercut of her own. Santana staggers a bit but is still on her feet. The two lock up again, and April transitions into a wristlock. She attempts to bend her hand backward, but Santana throws April off to the side. As she gets to her feet, she gets knocked down by a running clothesline. Mikela makes a remark about how if “April can’t get past Santana, then she can kiss her belt goodbye.” Santana picks up Song by the hair and whips her in the corner, followed by a powerful corner splash! Song stumbles out from the corner and falls. Santana goes for a pin, but Song kicks out.
Melissa Flash: Frankie Owens is on the outside, cheering her client and best friend! Santana seems to be getting the best of the Killer Bee.
Mikela Juhász: Is it that much of a surprise to you? April Song has gotten by too easily! At Lethal Takeover, I’m going to expose her!
Kat Ricci: This woman is a multi-time Specialist Champion - not just in LAW. She has been trained by the military to be ready for any-
Mikela Juhász: Blah, blah, whatever. The real question is April Song ready for ME?
April is backed up by Santana and is whipped to the ropes. Song bounces back and counters with a chop block to the leg. Santana topples over and Song smoothly transitions into a double leg takedown, followed by a Fujiwara armbar. Frankie starts hitting the mat to give her friend encouragement as she tries to reach out for the ropes. April tries to keep her in place, but Santana drags her to the ropes. Song breaks the count at four and gets up to reassess the situation. Feeling a little more confident, Song ducks a wild haymaker and counters with a Widow Maker (Inverted stomp facebreaker). Before Santana realizes what’s going on, April applies her Professional Disposal (Rear naked choke) submission. Santana struggles to break free, but Song’s hold is latched on too tight. Having seen enough, Mikela leaves the commentary table and goes under the ring, pulling out a cardboard box full of foreign objects. She pushes it into the ring, slides in, and hits April with the folded steel chair!
Melissa Flash: Oh my god! Mikela Juhász is inside the ring and is unleashing hell upon April Song!
Kat Ricci: She pulled out a box of items from underneath the ring! When did she have time to get that together!?
Melissa Flash: I don’t know but from what I can see there’s a - OH MY GOD MIKELA JUST ATTACKED APRIL WITH A LIGHT TUBE! APRIL SONG IS DOWN AND HOLDING HER HEAD IN PAIN! W-WHAT THE HELL IS MIKELA THINKS SHE’S DOING!? SHE’S DIGGING INTO THE BOX OF OBJECTS AND PULLS OUT BARBED WIRE! TEH REFS ARE TRYING TO STOP HER FROM WRAPPING IT AROUND HER NECK! WHAT THE HELL DOES SHE THINK SHE’S DOING!?
Kat Ricci: MIKELA IS UNHINGED! APRIL IS BLEEDING FROM HER FOREHEAD! MIKELA GRABS APRIL WITH THE BARBED WIRE WRAPPED AROUND! BREATH OF HADES! MIKELA JUST DELIVERED A VICIOUS BARBED WIRE SIT-OUT BUTTERFLY PILEDRIVER UPON THE STEEL CHAIR! APRIL’S SONG HEAD IS BUSTED FROM CONTACT!
(Mikela rolls out of the ring and grabs the mic from London Morris.)
Mikela Juhász: You want to know which match I pick!? Huh!? HUH!? Everybody here wants to know how I’m going to take that Specialist Championship belt! Well, since we’re going to be in Japan, how about we have a good ‘ol fashioned Deathmatch!
(The crowd goes wild)
Melissa Flash: April’s out. I doubt she can even comprehend what’s being said to her.
Mikela Juhász: In two weeks the world will be singing under sad love ‘Song’ while I walk out with the Lethal Specialist Championship.
(Mikela drops the mic and walks away as medical officials run into the ring to check on April.)
Kat Ricci: Looks like Mikela revealed the terms of battle. She wants to put April through the same hell she thrusted upon her tonight.
Melissa Flash: We can only hope April isn’t seriously injured right now. Mikela may have sent a message, but what's the point when the champ can’t even defend her title?
Kat Ricci: Well regardless, there’s going to be a slight delay for tonight’s contract signing for the Lethal Angel Championship so please bear with us!
Backstage
(LAW General Manager Madam Vega is sitting in her office when there’s a knock at the door.)
Madam Vega: Come in.
(“Big Sexy” Santana walks into the office with Frankie Owens. Both women look like they saw a ghost.)
Madam Vega: Are you two okay? What’s up?
Frankie Owens: D-did you not see what just happened out there!?
Madam Vega: (shrugs) Just another Monday Night. Those two will settle things in Japan. What can I do for the two of you?
Santana: (glares) Well for starters, my match was ruined! I was moments from breaking out of her submission before Mikela came in there and stole a victory away from me! I came to LAW to make an impact, not to be made a foll out of! I feel like I’ve been overlooked after Lethal Hearts, and not given the same opportunities as everyone else!
Madam Vega: I agree. By the way, you performed well tonight.
Santana: Thank you-
Madam Vega: But if you’re looking to exact some vengeance, I can’t put you in the Lethal Deathmatch-
Frankie Owens: Isn’t that redundant?
Madam Vega: …
Frankie Owens: ...sorry.
Madam Vega: As I said, I can’t put you in the Specialist match. Maybe an opportunity will come knocking-
*knock knock*
(Everyone looks at each other in silence for a moment)
Madam Vega: Hrm, interesting. (yells) Come in!
(Jessica Hendrix walks into the office. She’s surprised to see that the GM already has company.)
Jessica Hendrix: Uh, I can come back later if you want-
Madam Vega: Actually, you’re right on time! Come on in!
(Jessica Hendrix closes the door behind her and walks up to the desk.)
Madam Vega: So Santana here wants to show the world what she’s made of and be apart of Lethal Takeover. I’m sure you came here for the same reasons?
Jessica Hendrix: (nods) No disrespect Madam Vega, but I’m surprised that I even had to walk in here and ask for an opportunity. I like to think that I proved myself to be worthy of being on the Lethal Takeover card. I’ve been putting in the work! I’ve defeated a former tag champ AND a current one as well!
Madam Vega: (nods) You’re right. If it seems like I overlooked any of you, then I apologize. The both of you are valuable members of this roster, and it’s time I show as much. The two of you will be on the card, but give me some time to set things up. We are sharing the spotlight this time. But, when your matches are announced, you’ll be tagged on social media. Anything else?
(All three women shake their heads.)
Jessica Hendrix: Thank you, Madam.
Sanatana: Yeah, this is pretty solid of you.
Madam Vega: I appreciate the sentiment. Now if you ladies excuse me, I have a contract signing to prepare for.
(All three women nod and leave the office.)
(Commercial Break: Come witness the ultimate rebirth! Rising from the ashes of Sakura Pro is Lioness Pro! ‘That which is dead may never die…’)
Ringside
(The camera opens up to Roni de Vil walking towards the ring as her theme music is playing. London Morris is standing in the middle of the ring. Next to her is Madam Vega and a table with two chairs. Already seated Miranda Minors, who came out during the commercial break.)
Melissa Flash: Tonight before we go off the air, we are witness to the Lethal Angel Championship contract signing between Roni de Vil and her opponent Miranda Minors, the first LAW Champion we’ve had!
Kat Ricci: There’s a certain level of tension in the air at the moment. You can almost cut it with a knife, it’s so thick.
(Roni climbs into the ring with the LAW Championship over her shoulder. She nods at London and shakes the hand of the GM. She looks at Miranda with a slight hint of animosity on her face. Miranda simply smiles and invites her to sit down. Roni sits down cautiously after Vega gave her a nod of confirmation.)
Madam Vega: Thank you champion and challenger for being here tonight, as well as those of you in attendance and watching around the world. Lethal Takeover will have a co-main event shared by JET and LAW. Roni de Vil will be defending her Lethal Angel Championship against our first champion, Miranda Minors! Now each of you will have a chance to speak your peace before signing the contract. Who would like to go first?
(Roni gestures for Miranda to go first, who waste no time picking up her mic.)
Miranda Minors: (sighs) They say patience is a virtue. If that’s the case then I’m a freaking saint because I’ve been waiting since October for an opportunity to get back my LAW Championship. Roni, have you ever wanted something so bad that it ate at you from the inside!? That it haunted your dreams to the point where you couldn’t sleep!? That’s how I feel without MY LAW Championship. The same Championship I put on the map. Women like you and Daisy are living off the scraps left by me during my historic reign! Seeing someone like you...some undeserving new kid on the block...it irks me. It bothers me in ways you can’t even comprehend. Madam Vega, you seem to think that replacing the woman who dethroned me with...this Tarah Nova knockoff can turn things around!? Speaking of which, does Cameron know about your history Roni!? It’s kind of odd that a graduate from your wrestling school is also your top champion! How the hell did she jump over the likes of Serenity Scorpio? Sidney Knight!? Those anime twins...the uh Sakarabas!? How does the hell Queen Hot Topic herself get to jump the line and become LAW Champion!? In case you forgot Vega, I EARNED my shot at the LAW Championship! I pinned the Daughter of the Scorpio herself, Stephanie Matsuda’s star student in the middle of this very ring to become LAW Champion!
(Miranda taps the table several times before continuing. Roni’s face is expressionless.)
Miranda Minors: To be frank, Cameron knows how talented I am. But your choice in company faces have been questionable at best, Vega. Daisy Thrash and Isabella Verratti were being groomed to be the faces of LAW’s revival! The new faces of a new generation of girls! But their untimely injuries left them behind like dust in the wind. That’s what everyone who’s not Miranda Minors is Vega - just dust left in the wind from my footprints as I walk towards my destiny: The Lethal Angel Championship. Come Lethal Takeover...I take back the belt and break Roni’s back in the process. Another broken doll for Vega to retire back to her Wrestling School for Wayward Girls or whatever that place is called.
(Miranda shakes her head.)
Miranda Minors: You couldn’t live without pushing your pet project forward, huh Vega? And where did that bring you? Back to me.
(Miranda puts down the mic to let Roni speak. The champion takes her time, staring at Miranda for a couple of moments before speaking.)
Roni de Vil: You know something Miranda? I’ve been waiting for this match. I’ve waited weeks to get my hands on you, and you know what? I still don’t get it. Before I set foot in this place, I didn’t know anything about you, Miranda. Even if I put a target on your back, it’s never personal. I’m a fighter, and what fighters do is win matches. But you’re on some next level drama with your hot mess. First, you bite the hand that feeds you by not only insulting the general manager but the very woman who trained me. You may feel like Vega has given you a difficult time, but that’s because she has to maintain order in this place above everything else. I like a little bit of chaos every now and then, but what I value more than chaos is respect. And you Miranda seem to have none for anybody, much less any for yourself. Vega may not be able to do anything to you because she can’t hurt her talent, but there’s nothing stopping me from doing whatever I have to, by any means necessary. In my years of competition and violence, it was never personal. But I’ll tell you this - after what you did to me - what I’m going to do to that annoying face of yours...I’m going to enjoy it. Very, very much. You’re going to regret every bad decision you’ve ever made here at LAW when the New Sheriff in Town throws your lily white ass behind bars for good!
(Miranda says nothing as she moves the contract towards her. She looks at Roni with a smirk before signing her name on the contract. She pushes the contract towards Roni, who looks at Miranda before signing the contract, making the match official.)
Madam Vega: The match is now official! Roni de Vil! Miranda Minors! The Lethal Angel Champion-
(Roni punches Miranda out of nowhere and the two women begin to brawl! Madam Vega is trying to get them to stop while yelling for security. Several moments later, security rushes out as and slides in the ring to pull the two girls apart. Miranda and Roni break past security and brawl a bit more, but security ends up being pulled apart again. Miranda is escorted out of the ring and up the ramp. Roni is still in the ring with the security holding her back.)
(LAW and IJWF logos appear on the screen)
