Episode 24: Rallying Cry
(COLD OPEN - The camera turns on to show LAW General Manager Madam Vega sitting at her desk in her office addressing everyone watching Thursday Night LAW.)
Madam Vega: Good evening loyal fans of Lethal Angels of Wrestling. As you know I’m General Manager Madam Vega and I wish to address an incident that happened during the main event of the previous show. Sweet Roxy - cornered by Kayla Winters - was facing Jessica Rose - cornered by Roni de Vil - when the lights went out and they were viciously attacked by someone not affiliated with this promotion. That woman is known as Natalie Cage, OWA Women’s World Champion on their Odyssey brand. I have spoken with the brand’s GM, Viola DeMarco, and we both agree that there should be some kind of resolution. So after a lengthy three-way meeting with JET GM Yoko Kudo, we’ve come up with a solution. The main event for Trifecta will be a Champion’s Match! Lethal Angel Champion Kayla Winters vs OWA Women’s World Champion Natalie Cage vs JET World Champion Mizuki Nakata in a Triple Threat Match! And despite their unresolved rivalry with the Sakaraba Sisters, The Dynamic Duo will have to wait before getting another shot at the Lethal Tag Team Championships. Hendrix and Santana earned their shot and will get one. As for the Lethal Specialist Championship, April Song will get the opportunity to defend her title against Celes Dumont in a match of her choice. These are the matches LAW will be contributing to the show. As for protecting my roster form any future invasions, security has been increased, at least until Trifecta has passed. In two weeks, there will be a 6-Woman Tag match. Roni de Vil, Sweet Roxy, and Jessica Rose will have a shot at Natalie Cage and two of Odyssey’s finest. As for now, please enjoy tonight’s show.
(The NEW intro to Thursday Night LAW plays, along with NEW theme song “Venom” by Icon for Hire! The camera opens up to the interior of the sold-out Chaifetz Arena. As the camera scans through the screaming fans, we see Melissa Flash and Kat Ricci sitting at the commentary desk.)
Melissa Flash: Welcome to Thursday Night LAW! We just saw a special message from General Manager Madam Vega in regards to the exploits of Odyssey's Natalie Cage! We’re also going to see a 6-Woman tag match! This is insane!
Kat Ricci: It is indeed! While Trifecta is Odyssey’s entry into the IJWF, the road to it is paved with not so good intentions. Speaking of which, we’ll be hearing from April Song later on tonight. As for now, let’s get to our first match of the night!
Singles Match: Anna Clark vs Kylie Monroe
(Anna, with a smug look on her face, quickly tries to come in and hit Kylie with a superkick but the self-proclaimed "Heartless Bitch" quickly ducks under it and then quickly catches Anna with a series of stiff forearm shots directly to the face before quickly grabbing Anna's left forearm as the LA native attempts to block the move and hits a very quick and stiff T-Bone suplex which she then follows up by moving over, dragging, Anna up to a vertical position and then dropping her with an inverted brainbuster)
Kat: Even though Anna thought that she could quickly end this match with a superkick before it even gets started, Kylie is able to quickly get in a very stiff and surprisingly well-timed offense in instead.
Melissa: Apparently Ann felt that Kylie was going to be just the first stepping stone in her career here in LAW?
Kat: Yeah, she might just yet because the match has just started.
(Anna once more dragged to her feet by Kylie but instead the newest Diva in LAW quickly hits a quick and brutal snap kick that catches the deathmatch wrestler by surprise before Anna quickly unleashes a rapid-fire succession of kicks, slaps, forearms, and punches on Kylie, forcing the other woman hard into one of the corners before she quickly moves in, pulls Kylie to her while using her own arms to keep Kylie's pinned to her sides before she quickly snaps backward and drives Kylie's head hard into the mat at which point Anna then bridges the move as the ref jumps into position)
Melissa: And there is Anna with a capture suplex into a bridge!!!
(Kylie manages to jerk her body hard and gets a kick out but before she can move away fully from her, Anna once more lashes out and manages to grab Kylie's right arm, yanked her back to her and then quickly tucks her head under Kylie's right before flipping Kylie backward and bridging the move again but Kylie manages to wiggle out but Anna keeps her grip and then quickly spins the Scot up and around by her stomach before quickly going for the pin once more but Kylie is able to slam her left elbow into Anna's face a couple of times that force the move to be broken)
Kat: And an equally impressive array of technical expertise by Anna as she took the best that Kylie could throw at her before unleashing her own barrage and tried with first a capture suplex followed by a Northern Lights and then a Gutwrench, all with a very quick and fluid pin attempt!
Melissa: I haven't seen a Northern Lights moved hit like that in a long time. It was fluid and executed with a certain kind of skill that made it almost beautiful to watch.
(Kylie shakes out the cobwebs from her head as Anna comes stalking over, a smug look of victory on her face which suddenly turns into one of complete and utter pain as Kylie slams one very stiff looking forearm shot into Anna's stomach before hitting a second and then a third before she quickly spun Anna around while grabbing both of her arms and then quickly hitting an X-Plex onto Anna before she quickly moved to one side an patiently waited like a lion stalking its wounded prey at which point Anna then stands up and starts to look around with a murderous intent in her eyes)
Melissa: And we once again see Anna's overconfidence and how it backfires for her as it allows Kylie a chance for some more of those vicious forearm shots to the abdomen!
Kat: Not only that but she also just dropped Anna with Scot's Drop and it looks like she's simply waiting to set her up for something more.
(Anna finally turns and sees Kylie standing there but all of a sudden Kylie is a burst of movement as she charges across the ring before Anna can even blink and then lays her out flat on her ass as Kylie then quickly goes for the cover)
London: Ladies and Gentlemen, the winner of the match by pinfall, KYLIE MONROE!!
Melissa: And just like that, Kylie nails the Blood Shot onto Anna and picks up the win via the three-count, Kat.
Kat: No kidding, that was a quick but rather hard-fought match by two of the newest wrestlers go join the LAW roster.
The camera cuts backstage to Sweet Roxy and Kayla Winters opening the door to the locker rooms with smiles on their faces, both of them wearing street clothes. Kayla has the LAW Championship on her shoulder and Sweet Roxy has a megaphone in hand as they meet a handful of roster members that are minding their own business -- eating, having conversations, working out, etc.
Sweet Roxy (with a megaphone): ATTENTION! ALL LAW ROSTER MEMBERS, REPORT TO US RIGHT NOW! WE HAVE A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!
The members of the locker room glance to where the noise was coming from, but not enough to actually want them to leave what they’re doing.
Kayla Winters (with her own megaphone): DON’T MAKE US SAY IT AGAIN… REPORT TO SWEET WINTERS RIGHT NOW!
Still, nothing, some of them roll their eyes to the presence of the tag team. Kayla and Roxy look at each other, annoyed. Roxy pulls her megaphone one more time.
Sweet Roxy (with a megaphone): WHOEVER COMES HERE FIRST WILL GET A SHOT AT THE LAW CHAMPIONSHIP!
Kayla Winters: What?!
Roxy shrugs, but instantly, most of the LAW roster members stop what they’re doing as they come over to Sweet Winters after that announcement. Jessica Hendrix, Serenity Scorpio, Rina Sakaraba, Ruby Auriel and many more came by.
Jessica Hendrix: Are you guys for real? About the title shot?
Kayla Winters: Well, no… We really don’t have that power to book matches, BUT we are here for something far more important. Now that we have you all here, we have a serious issue that we have to talk about, which is far more important than Championships!
Sweet Roxy: It’s about the last edition of LAW. Now I’m sure none of us have been living under a rock, you all have seen what happened! I was about to humiliate Jessica Rose, like I always do, when some deformed monster by the name Natalie Cage came from out of nowhere!
Jessica Rose: Okay, first of all, you were on the brink of losing in our match. Second of all, all this sounds like a you-problem.
Kayla Winters: Au contraire! This isn’t just about Natalie Cage, this is about Odyssey trying to ruin our peace here at LAW. If they bark at us, we have to bite them in return! They are coming here one by one and it’s only a matter of time until they turn this respected company into a toxic freakshow! So we’ve come up with a brilliant plan, I know that this is a lot to ask from all of you but I think it’s necessary--
Sweet Roxy: WE ARE GOING TO INVADE ODYSSEY! WE ARE GONNA HAVE PITCHFORKS AND TORCHES! WE ARE GONNA MAKE OUR PRESENCE KNOWN BUT IN A MUCH MORE INTIMIDATING WAY THAN WHATEVER MONKEY DANCE NATALIE DID! And for the “heavy ones” -- yes, Jessica Rose, I’m talking to you -- you are going to have a one-person hunger strike! Isn’t that exciting?
Jessica Rose: That’s enough, you two. After everything that you put me, and the rest of us, through with your useless shenanigans in or out of the ring, do you think that we’d extend a helping hand or give you any kind of assistance? I am usually all for helping, but seeing as this is mostly your problem and that you kinda deserve it, here’s a simple answer for the two of you -- a big ‘ol chunk of no way, Jose!
Serenity Scorpio: Yeah, I’m out too…
Jocelyn Sky: See ya.
Sweet Roxy scoffs. Sweet Winters watch on as many of them leave the area.
Sweet Roxy: FINE, WHO NEEDS YA?
Kayla Winters: I think you came off too strong there.
: It’s not your fault that they’re spineless.
Sweet Roxy and Kayla Winters turn around and see none other than former LAW Champion Roni De Vil.
Sweet Roxy: If you’re planning on doing something careless, I just want to remind you that there’s two of us and one of you.
Roni De Vil: Oh, you worry too much, Roxy. I’m merely listening in on your plan to invade Odyssey… It’s a great plan and all but don’t you have a friend over there? The one in the fur coat?
Sweet Roxy: Jonetta won’t be a problem, trust me.
Roni De Vil: Just making sure there are no loose ends once we march over there.
Kayla Winters: So, you’re joining us then, really? After what happened at the LAW Homecoming?
Roni De Vil: Oh, trust me. I still have some unfinished business with you two, and you will be silenced in due time. But an enemy of my enemy is my friend, and today you will have a temporary comrade that will fight with you to take down the common enemy. Seeing how there are not really many options, you really have no choice but to accept whatever help you can get. So what do you say?
Kayla Winters: Yeah, let’s do it. But just know that we won’t let our guard down.
Roni De Vil extends her hand. Kayla Winters accepts the handshake. Sweet Roxy looks on with a smirk on her face.
Singles Match: Kiki Kumiko w/ Cassidy Vega vs Jessica Hendrix w/ "Big Sexy" Santana & Frankie
(The two women start to circle each other, occasionally throwing kicks and forearm strikes out to test the waters before Kiki quickly tries to go in for a discus clothesline but Jessica ducks under it and then quickly wraps her arms around the other woman's waist and hauls her backwards with a German suplex that she then rolls over and then hits a second German but bridges it but Kiki is able to power out of Jessica's grip before rolling to her feet and trying for a standing dropkick that Jessica then steps back from, allowing Kiki to fall hard onto the mat at which point she turns and quickly hits a standing moonsault onto Kiki before hooking the leg)
(Kiki quickly kicks out of the move and then rolls away from Jessica and gets to one knee as Jessica simply smiles as the fans cheer for both women)
Melissa: A very impressed series of moves by both women here in the opening moments of this match. Jessica quickly countering the more flashy Kumiko with some simple moves as she first tries for a German with a bridge for a pin followed by a standing moonsault pin.
Kat: I completely agree with you on that, Melissa. Both women have really stepped up their game since Homecoming haven't they?
(Kiki quickly charges at Jessica who dives under the clothesline attempt by the taller woman only for Kiki to quickly grab the ropes and then use them to hit a springboard clothesline on Jessica before she turns around and hits her with a kneeling enzuigiri before she goes for a pin attempt of her own)
(Jessica quickly wraps her arms and left leg around Kiki before using her right leg to push them backward with Jessica on top for the pin attempt)
(Kiki forces herself to flex in a certain way that rolls the both of them back the other way with Kiki on top)
Kat: Some pretty impressing pinning attempts by both women here tonight, again showing that they are to show their fire in the aftermath of such a great show like Homecoming.
Melissa: And especially with the forthcoming Trifecta event on the horizon, Kat. It seems that everyone is really trying to up their A-games to something bigger and much more impressive to get noticed for the big event.
(Jessica kicks out of the move and then quickly gets to her feet before she almost gets drilled by a Kiki Boots attempt but Jessica is able to quickly turn that around and into a one-handed facebuster that Jessica quickly rolls over and attempts to lock in an ankle lock but Kiki is able to get to the ropes before she can cinch in the lock and Jessica makes the break clean before Kiki uses the ropes to stand back up before she attempts to go for a Mafia kick attempt but Jessica quickly counters that by sidestepping her and then quickly landing a superkick on Kiki before rolling her up into the pin)
London: And the winner of your match by pinfall, Jessica HENDRIX!!!
("Neon" keys back up as Santana and Frankie quickly get into the ring as Jessica gets her hand raised before she kneels down and helps Kiki get to her feet before offering her hand to shake Kiki's and the raver accepts it before offering her a moment of respect by raising Jessica's hand in victory)
Melissa: And what an impressive show of conduct by Kiki Kumiko by raising Jessica's hand following such an explosive match.
Kat: No kidding, Melissa. I honestly thought that Kiki was going to win it until Jessica got that superkick to land from out of nowhere.
("Message to God" by Royal Hunt keys up and the fans really start to cheer as the current reigning and defending Lethal Angels of Wrestling Specialist champion in the form of the "Professional" herself, April Song, starts to walk down the aisle to the ring with the Specialist championship nestled firmly on her shoulder with her face set into a rather serious mien as she goes. Once she reaches the ring, she quickly climbs inside of it and then accepts the mic from London as the song fades away)
April: Now a short while ago back at Homecoming, I had just gotten done defending my title against Revy in perhaps one of the toughest matches that I've had in LAW to date and while she did indeed bring everything to the table, I was able to just bring out just enough more to walk away from the show with this still wrapped around my waist!
(April slides the specialist title down one toned arm and into the palm of her right hand before she hoists it up for the fans to see which gets her a respectable face pop but then she lowers the title back onto her shoulder)
April: But you see, just like any other champion in my line of work, there was already someone waiting in the wings, and despite her claims otherwise I can only see her wanting to make a name for herself BUT then I did just a little bit of digging and I came to realize that this isn't this new face to challenge me for my specialist title wasn't just someone looking to make a name for herself right out of the gate.
(April shakes her head as she starts to pace just a little bit for just a moment before she looks up at the entranceway, her expression still serious but thoughtful as well)
April: You see, until I did a little bit of research I just assumed that Celes Dumont was just another random challenger because this woman doesn't do anything without some kind of Machiavellian plan in place and that goes double for her manager from what I've seen. But I'm not exactly a slouch myself and something that Celes has said to me recently in a twitter message got me to really think about this...so I would like to invite her out here right now.
(Suddenly the hard bass chords of Killswitch Engage's "Unleashed" keys up as Celes Dumont steps out onto the entranceway along with her manager, Miss Tara, to a huge mixed wave of boos and cheers and while Tara seems to be soaking them in with a proud little smile on her face, Celes' attention seems to be focused solely on April as she makes her way down to the ring and then quickly climbs into it, her dark eyes never leaving April for a nanosecond)
Celes: Hheellllooo there, April! I'm so glad that you've come to the show tonight just to talk to little old me..
April: Actually I did come to the show tonight to do just that because I know that despite how you act and everything, you're a serious professional just like me...you just like to play the loopy bitch to get everyone to dismiss you, so if you could please just drop the act and we can continue on like professionals?
(Celes purses her lips for a moment and then slowly nods in agreement before motioning for April to continue)
April: Now I have a proposition for you, Celes. You wanted to have a match with me and I'm all for accepting any challenges but you, you challenged me to sit back and seriously think about this and I've come to only one conclusion.
(April moves to stand right in the face of Celes, doing her best to intimidate the taller woman who doesn't back down)
April: You and me, in a "No Way Out" match and it will be for the Specialist title. That means, Celes, that there will be no way for you to escape...can you handle that?
(Celes' lips twitch for a moment before a sly, almost predatory, smile crossed her features)
Celes: Of course, you'll grant me the time to think about it of course...you returning the same courtesy that I showed you?
April: Of course, however...I do feel that I owe you something...
(April looks away for a moment and then catches Celes flat with a forearm strike with her left arm, driving the Bostonian back a single step before April quickly drops her title and hits a drop kick to Celes' knees, driving her down as April executes a perfect backward roll before she tries to go for her Bee Stinger double foot stomp but Celes in turn quickly slips out of the ring and into a kind of combat crouch on the ground before she starts moving backwards, slowly shaking her finger in a "No No" motion at April)
Celes: Now that's the kind of fire *HE* likes in a woman, April, and that's the kind of fire that I like too...I will give you your answer soon enough. Just you wait.
("Unleashed" keys back up as Celes walks backward up the entranceway, her smiling attention still focused on April as she goes as the Specialist champion simply smirks back)
Singles Match: Celes Dumont vs Carla Luna
The match starts off with Celes eyeing her opponent from across the ring as if she was some kind of prey. Never the one to be shaken by anyone, Carla meets her opponent in the center of the ring. Celes goes for a haymaker, but Luna ducks and counters with a stiff forearm. She tries to grab Celes, but Dumont breaks free and fights back with a spinning back fist that knocks Carla off her feet! Watching her opponent struggle on the mat, she gives a swift kick to her ribs, while watching her opponent suffer. She makes the cover, but Carla kicks out. When Luna tries to find refuge against the ropes, Celes begins choking her with them, forcing the ref to break the hold. Celes starts walking around the ring, satisfied with the carnage she’s put on display. When Carla gets to her feet, Dumont unceremoniously tosses her out of the ring. The ref doesn’t start his count until Celes is outside. Once Carla is up, she starts fighting back with everything she’s got, which forced Celes to throw her back into the ring. She slid back inside and applied Rear Naked Choke.
Melissa Flash: Celes has the Rear Naked Choke locked in! From the moment the bell rang, she has been dominating this match!
Kat Ricci: Carla tries to escape but Celes transitions into a Dragon Sleeper! She has the body scissors applied! Luna’s in deep trouble if she doesn’t find a way out of this hold!
Luna screams bloody murder as Celes leans back with the hold, causing more pain to her opponent. Carla struggles but fights out of the hold, only to get a short-range punt kick to the face! Dumont attempts another pin, but Carla again kicks out at two! Celes picks her up and whips her to the ropes, but Carla counters with a running clothesline. She goes for a roll-up, but Celes easily kicks out! Enraged, Celes starts unleashing a blitz of strikes and takes her down with a rolling wheel kick. She attempts another pin, but Carla kicks out at two. Celes angrily grabs her and chokes her against the ropes once more. She disengages at the four count and backs away as Luna staggers to a corner. Celes charges towards her, but Carla avoids the running European uppercut. Taking advantage of an opportunity, Carla counters with a springboard push kick to the face! She follows up with a whip to the opposite corner, but Celes counters with a Devil Trigger (High impact roundhouse kick). Before Carla could hit the ground, she pulls her in for an Angel's Touch (Twist of Fate)! As Luna takes her time getting to her feet, Celes climbs to the top and delivers the Silver Banshee (Diving double knee facebreaker) for the victory!
London Morris: Here’s your winner Celes-
Melissa Flash: Wait! It’s April Song! She’s sliding into the ring! SWAN SONG! Celes is laid out on the mat!
Kat Ricci: The Specialist Champion just delivered a measure of payback! She set the match and now these two will be seeing each other soon!
(The camera follows April as she walks to the back with a satisfied grin on her face.)
(The camera opens to a side view of the entrance of OWA Headquarters. In the distance, a tank is slowly making its way down the street, causing on-goers to look on in curiosity. As the tank casually stops in front of the entrance, an OWA employee in a business suit walks out in a rush. When he sees the tank, he freezes for a moment with a look of confusion on his face. The top of the tank opens, and Revy, wearing a green beret, pops her head out.)
Revy: Hiya there Mr. Businessman! (salutes)
Mr. Businessman: Uh...hi.
Revy: Is this where the war’s gonna take place?
Mr. Businessman: War!? What war!?
Revy: The war between OWA, JET, and LAW! Due to a preemptive strike by your women’s champion, I have taken upon myself to return the gesture!
Mr. Businessman: Uh...is it legal for you to have that tank?
Revy: It’s amazing what you can get your hands on when you’re ex-military!
Mr. Businessman: Uh…
Revy: Listen, I can see that you’re a little freaked out over this. I mean no ill will towards the regular staff in OWA much like yourself. What I want are those damn Vietcong Odyssey girls! The Natalies, Erisessess, Dianthas, and Dulce flavored ice creams of the brand!
Mr. Businessman: Listen...aren’t you guys supposed to fight in a ring or something?
Mr. Businessman: …
Mr. Businessman: …?
Mr. Businessman: !!!
(A spooked Revy drops down into the tank and it quickly drives off, leaving Mr. Businessman a little shaken and somewhat confused by the experience.
Singles Match: Serenity Scorpio w/ Jocelyn Sky vs Yuki Sakaraba w/ Rina Sakaraba
The match starts off with a test of strength between the two, with Yuki getting the upper hand via a hammerlock. Serenity elbows her way out of the hold and whips Yuki to the corner, following up with several kicks to the chest. She backs away after the ref gives a warning, but She soon follows up with a foot to the throat. Yuki catches the boot and pushes Serenity to the center of the ring, holding her leg. She then pulls her in for a wicked DDT. While Serenity was on her hands and knees, Yuki hits the ropes and lands a basement corkscrew elbow. Yuki picks up her opponent and attempts an Irish whip but Serenity reverses, only to get hit but a running Super Galactic Collider (Lariat)! Sensing opportunity, Yuki climbs out to the apron and hits a Mass Extinction (Springboard Double Footstomp)! With the crowd on her side, Yuki DEADLIFTS Serenity, surprising everyone to deliver a massive Kawaī Chōshinsei (Burning Hammer)!!!
Melissa Flash: Oh my god! What a dominating performance from Yuki Sakaraba!
Kat Ricci: Serenity was caught completely off guard by The Kawai Princess’ relentless offense!
Melissa Flash: I think this was a message for their upcoming opponents- speak of the devil! Jessica Hendrix and Sanatana has come out and are pointing at their upcoming opponents!
(The camera goes back and forth between the Sakaraba Sisters who are holding up their tag belts and Jessica and Santana who look eager to take those very belts for themselves.)
(LAW and IJWF logos buzz)
