(There is nothing but blackness, it is almost like there is nothing going on when suddenly a woman’s voice speaks from the blackness)
Voice: Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.
(There is suddenly the sound of a match being struck and in that tiny flame we see the face of Celes Dumont, the “Death Dealer”...”Lady Gojira” herself, behind it as she applies it to a candle in front of her, her tone is soft...conversational)
Celes: Ralph Waldo Emerson said that about destiny...and its connection to fate and fate is what brought us together, April. You see, you felt the need...a desire...to find someone who understood what kind of a wrestler that you were...what kind of champion that you were...and truthfully you found yourself becoming more and more embittered by this lack of a true opponent.
So you sent your thoughts out into the universe...and I answered.
But based on first appearances, you assumed that I was just another cog in the system...some faceless heartless creatures come from the depths of the dark indie scene to challenge the great and powerful April Song, eh?
Celes stops and chuckles without mirth as she runs the fingers of her right hand over the flame of the candle, when she talks again...her tone stays the same, casual and conversational.
Celes: I’m used to people assuming things about me, been dealing with it for quite a long time now...people look at me and all they see is a kind of...I don’t know, modern viking perhaps, a modern primitive...but when people look at me and how I dress for a wrestling match, they naturally assume that I’m just some blood thirsty, crazy psycho woman who wouldn’t know the difference between a German suplex from a hip toss.
A lot of people have all assumed that over these past few months, April, and for every person who calls themselves a "Punisher", "Leading Lady", "Heart of Empire", "Visionary", "Deus Ex Machina", "False Prophet", "Corporate Cunt", "Queen of the Nile", and "Dirti Diva" who have claimed to be better than me...do you know what they have learned?
In the flickering light of the candle, Celes’ lips curl upwards into a quiet, bemused smile for the briefest of moments before it disappears.
Celes: They learned just how foolish their misconceptions about their reality is because when they walked away from a match with me...win or lose...they *never* could deny that they were not savaged by what I could do in that ring and I loved shattering their expectations.
And that for their great and grandiose titles... they lacked the real fire to spur me to give them anything better than what they deserved which unlike you, dear April, you deserve nothing but my *FINEST*....unlike those...."people"...
The second time that you and I...talked...in the ring, April, you called me out and said for me to drop the act and you have no idea how happy that made me. Because that meant you had done your research and later on in the night, you laid me out with a swan song...I will admit that it was only fair since a week before I did lay you out with a move of my own.
But then you said that I came into your ring...after your match and laid hands upon you unprovoked?
Celes shakes her head for a moment while making a “tsking” sound.
Celes: Come now, tell the truth. Who provoked who in that case? Was it me who simply came into the ring to introduce myself...or *you* who decided that she needed to puff out her chest, hoist her little title up into the air, and try to make a statement?
Come now, be honest.
But then again, that’s what you think this is all about in the end, isn’t?
Your Lethal Angels of Wrestling Specialist title.
A title that you’ve held for almost a year practically.
The irony is that this match isn’t about your title, Madam Vega and you *MADE* it about your title… you more so than her I lay odds… but for me, I wanted our first match to be pure and free of any kind of conflicting interest..don’t get me wrong, I would’ve gone after the title anyway but I wanted our *FIRST* match together to be something special and more fun.
Celes then raises her left hand and snaps the fingers there.
Celes: But then you had to go and make the match that puts you and me into an enclosed cage.... Did you think that this kind of match would give you the advantage when you yourself are locked within another cage?
You are distracted and that distraction is your hatred of Matsuda, and you can’t tell me that you’re focused on our match a hundred percent because I understand that kind of rage… it’s not a white hot fury, no...your hatred for her is fed your flame of hatred a bright blue, it’s natural...as natural as the very air that you and she draws the same breath from.
Celes then regards the candle, toying with the flame as it grows taller and brighter before she finally smiles and turns to look at the camera better, a kind smile on her face
Celes: I will help you in this, April, by taking the Specialist title so that you can focus more on what’s apparently more important to you which is Matsuda ...I do this out of the kindness of my heart because I actually value the future that this promotion can have with the right face to represent not only its specialist division ...but also the strength of its talent.
You choose to focus more on the self idolized “Iconic War Queen” and the OWA challenge cup and the LAW championship currently held by Kayla Winters… you seek to quench your never ending thirst when in fact your cup runneth over till you drown for your efforts, so for the best interests of not only the Lethal Angels of Wrestling specialist division but also *YOU* and your health, I shall take the burden of a champion for you… but your sins, those I cannot for an eater of sins I may be, a GLUTTON but I am *NOT*!
The smile disappears from Celes’ face as she turns thoughtful as she once more regards the flame of the candle which has slowly gone back to normal.
Celes: There is another quote about destiny and fate that I recall now, my dear April, and it is one that fits better here as the famed Joseph Conrad wrote that "It was written I should be loyal to the nightmare of my choice"..
Celes tilts her head to the left slightly, regarding the camera and its viewers with an honest look
Celes: That one fits you much better because come Trifecta, I will answer your call, dear...dear April. I will answer it and give you rest, a rest that you need because while you claim to be tougher, faster, smarter...you have not even seen me fully unleashed...you have not felt the passion that fuels me as if you were to sample it then it would simply burn you *ALIVE*.
The camera zooms in closer and in the light from the candle reflected slightly in the dark amber pools that are Celes’ eyes, one can almost see that passion she spoke of..and when she speaks, there is a fire there instead of the calm, conversational...
Celes: In six days, April...SIX *DAYS*...you will understand that in all things there must be an end and that perhaps you should’ve focused more on the fight at hand rather than the fights of the future because come Saturday, August the twenty fourth, your time as the Lethal Angels of Wrestling Specialist champion will…
Suddenly the candle goes out and we are plunged into darkness...from where Celes’ voice speaks one last time
Celes: Fade to black…
(The footage ends)
