Go and tell that long-tongued liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the backbiter
Tell ‘em that God’s gonna cut ‘em down
Tell ‘em that God’s gonna cut ‘em down
The scene opens inside “Hikaru Suzuki’s” friend’s home. The woman herself is sitting on her couch, watching some random late night television. All of a sudden, there’s a knock at the door. Her head jerks up, her eyes widening. Who could it be at this time of night? Did they somehow manage to find her? Not willing to take any chances, she carefully makes her way to the door with a hand on her concealed pistol. She opens the door only to find the face of Deputy Luke staring back at her. Before she can react, she feels the muzzle of a gun against her back and hears the safety click off.
“How did you manage to find me, Sheriff?”
“Oh, I have my ways. You betrayed a lot of people’s trust, Suzuki. And plenty of them were willing to help us. Now if you could just do me a favor and make your way into the dining room real quick. Get moving, I don’t have all night.”
“Hikaru” heads off to the dining room with Deputy Luke following, the Sheriff’s gun trained on her the entire time. The Deputy pulls out one of the chairs.
“Have a seat.”
“Hikaru” sits down obediently.
“Got the cuffs?”
“Yep.”
Deputy Luke pulls out the handcuffs and cuffs “Hikaru” to the chair, then rises to stand next to the chair. Sheriff Daisy places her gun back into the holster.
“Alright, where is it?”
“Where is what?”
Daisy smiles condescendingly then punches “Hikaru” square in the nose.
“Don’t bullshit me. You’re not exactly in the position to be trying anything cute. Now tell me where it is before I decide which one of your body parts I wanna shoot first.”
“You wouldn’t dare.”
Daisy pulls her gun back out of the holster and points it at “Hikaru’s” right leg.
“You wanna try me? Right now I’m thinkin’ I’ll go for your right leg first. Then won’t be kicking anyone’s deputies again any time soon.”
“Alright, alright, fine. I stuffed it in the refrigerator.”
Daisy fires a shot right next to “Hikaru’s” foot, causing the woman to shout and curse loudly.
“You should know better than to lie to me, girl.”
“I ain’t lying!”
Daisy reaches for the woman’s necklace and snaps it off, revealing a key on the end.
“Then what’s this little guy for? I can’t imagine this is the house key, it’s way too small. What kind of lock does this go to?”
“Hikaru” sighs in resignation.
“It’s for a chest upstairs, second door on the left. You happy now?”
“Sure am. Deputy, take this and please go recover my property.”
"You got it, Sheriff.”
Daisy passes off the key to Luke and he heads upstairs. Daisy turns back to her captive.
“While he’s gone, why don’t you and I have a little conversation on why you thought it was ok to steal from me?”
“I deserve that thing just as much as you do.”
“Is that why you played nice until it was time to make your move? Is that why you lulled us all into a false sense of security? You really had me with that line about how you respected me so much. That you just wanted ‘friendly competition.’ Now I see that you were just in it to inflate your own ego. I hope it was worth losing every ally you had.”
Before the captive can reply, Deputy Luke reenters the room, Lethal Angel Championship in hand. He hands it over to Daisy.
“I believe this is yours, ma’am.”
“Thank you, Deputy. It was nice seeing you again, Suzuki, but I’m afraid we must be on our way now.”
“Wait, you can’t just leave me here!”
“Actually, I can. Just need to take care of one last thing.”
Daisy picks up a roll of duct tape off the nearby counter, rips off a strip, and tapes it over “Hikaru’s” mouth. She then slings her championship over her shoulder and heads back into the living room with Luke following behind her. She flops down on the couch.
“Ugh, I can’t believe people watch this kind of crap! Where’s the remote?”
The television suddenly turns off. Daisy turns her head to see Luke with the remote in hand.
“Thanks, my man.”
“No problem.”
The deputy then makes his way over to the couch and has a seat. Daisy glances at the belt over her shoulder than looks straight-on at the camera.
“Something like this has been a long time coming. You wouldn’t believe how many hours I’ve put in, how much blood, sweat, and tears I’ve shed to finally reach this pinnacle. It makes me proud to be recognized as the best in LAW. The one who was able to go the distance and survive a brutal war in a steel cage. But I’m not about to let this title define me. I am the one that will define the title. I am the one who has already elevated LAW in the short time I’ve been champion. This title I’m holding is no longer merely a thing to dangle above people’s heads. It’s no longer a tool used to place someone on a pedestal or inflate an ego. I’ve made this championship into a prize that only deserves to be defended against those who are worthy. And Hikaru Suzuki, you are certainly worthy. An undefeated streak is something to be proud of. You’ve come out on top in both singles and multi-woman matches. You’re someone I certainly won’t underestimate and someone I’ll make sure I’m prepared for. However, I can’t help but notice you haven’t been around so much recently. There’s being under the radar and then there’s being completely off it. From the way you were talking back before Thunderstruck, I thought you were this passionate, driven, tenacious woman that would be more than ready to present her case. Oh well, it’s not the first time I’ve been wrong about someone. It is disappointing, though. I don’t expect you to come out and give away all of your secrets. I know that it’s a good idea to keep your best cards close to your chest, but pulling a disappearing act just makes you look like a coward. A yellow-belly. And man, I don’t much want to defend against a yellow-belly. Iron sharpens iron and weak opponents only make me weaker. You probably don’t think of yourself as weak, not with all your claims of being a deathmatch princess and such. As if someone who made it to the finals of a Queen of the Death Match tournament is supposed to be intimidated. You’re also not the first person to tell me they’ll do whatever it takes to win. In fact, I faced someone who said that a few nights ago. To make a long story short I busted her open once and she went nuts and got herself disqualified. Whoops. Hope you aren’t as big as a wimp as her.”
“I have to wonder: what exactly are your reasons for wanting the Lethal Angel Championship? Is it for the money? The fame? Just so you can say you’re the best? Hey, don’t hate me for taking shots in the dark, you’re the one who hasn’t yet crawled out of your hidey hole to face me. I’m not the type to hide anything, so I’ll let you in on my reasons. It was my dream to become a professional wrestler ever since I attended my first show. To say that my first few months in wrestling school were rough is a huge understatement. I was told by more than one of the teachers that I may have not been a fit for the business. The head trainer herself told me that I would need to work twice as hard as my colleagues just to keep up with them. So I did. I fought hard every day to keep my dream alive. Now, with this championship, I can tell myself I made the right choice. I get to shove this in the face of everyone who ever told me I couldn’t do it, that I didn’t have a future as a wrestler. Well I’d say the future’s looking pretty bright now! Not only is this title representative of the faith I have in myself but also the faith that the LAW audience has placed in me. I value their faith more than any precious jewel on this planet and I’ll be damned if I show they misplaced it. I’m not about to lose the title in my first defense. As many people as you’ve beaten before, Hikaru, you’ve never beaten me and you’re not about to. Because I’m unlike anyone you’ve ever faced before. I am no fragile flower I have been forged in fire and refined into the hardest steel. Many have tried to break me and none have succeeded. You knock me down nine times I’ll get up ten. I’m not all smiles, especially not for you. You wanna know why? It’s because you tried to further your career off of my back. Let me tell you something I am nobody’s victim. I am nobody’s stepping stone. And now you’re gonna pay for what you pulled. When you’re in the there with me you’ll be praying to whatever God you believe in that it’ll all be over soon. I am the Sheriff, this is my town and it just ain't big enough for the two of us. You’re gonna see what happens when my darker side comes out. At Sin City I’m gonna send you South of the Border and keep my title come hell or high water. Then I’ll keep it again after I take down whichever one of you wins the Joker’s Wild. In fact…”
Daisy begins to do an approximation of singing.
“Go and tell that Ms. Suzuki
Go and tell that Miranda Minors
Tell the Rina, the Roni, the Isabella
Tell ‘em the Sheriff’s gonna cut ‘em down
Tell ‘em that Daisy’s gonna cut ‘em down.”
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the backbiter
