Isabella Verratti sits on a bench at the world famous Santa Monica Pier. She wears a pink top with jeans and converse sneakers. Her makeup is minimal and her hair is back in a braid. She’s just sitting there, watching and taking in the hustle and bustle of the pier. She arrived in Los Angeles early in order to both train and enjoy her time. Eventually, a young girl, no older than six, runs up to Isabella with her mother walking shortly behind. The little girl speaks with a bit of a lisp.
“‘Scuse me, Miss,” the little girl begins, “are you the lady from the TV?”
Isabella chuckles. “I am on the television, passerotta. But which lady do you think I am?”
“Issss... Isssabelle Verrtatsi? Your name is hard. But I know it’s you! Because you talk funny like on tv!”
Isabella smiles as she looks up at the mother, who appears embarrassed at her daughters comment on Isabella’s accent. “Yes, little one. But you see, I am not from this country. So to me, it is everyone else who talks funny.” Isabella sticks her tongue out and makes a face that causes the child to laugh. “What is your name?”
“I’m Hannah!”
“Ah! Well, miss Hannah... are you going to see our show this weekend?”
“Yes!!” The little girl shouts with excitement.
Her mother chimes in, “We actually just bought tickets this past Saturday. She specifically said she wanted to see you and a woman by the name of Daisy. She begged and begged so her father and I got us all some seats up right near the ring.”
“Molto bene! Well I will look for you when I make my entrance.” Isabella looks back to Hannah. “And if I can spot you before I get into the ring, I will have a little gift for you.”
“Oh you don’t have to—“ the mother starts.
“It is no trouble. I assure you.” Isabella smiles.
Hannah pipes up, “Can I take a picture with you?”
“But of course! I would be happy to!”
Isabella kneels down next to Hannah as her mother snaps the picture on her cell phone. Afterwards, Hannah is ushered away by her mother but she pulls back to wave goodby to Isabella, who returns the wave with a smile. After watching them leave, Isabella pulls her cell phone out and begins to record herself in selfie mode.

“Hello, everyone. Isabella Verratti here. I suppose there is no better time than the present to address my match with Miranda at Limelight. So the first question many have asked is why this match is even happening in the first place. Well the answer is simple. Miranda decided to point her aggressions at me simply because she was not handed the match that she desired. Well, as always, I run from nothing. I run towards my goals, towards my dreams and desires. Miranda wants to push me around? No. I will prove to her why she is a former champion instead of a reigning one. And I will show her why I won the Joker’s Wild match and why I am a future champion.”
“Miranda is just a scared little girl on the inside. She presents a facade to the world in order to seem strong but her true feelings are of worry. She worries of being forgotten, of being lost. She is afraid of the fact that if anyone else stands in the spotlight that she will fade away. That is why she constantly throws tantrums, flies off the handle at others, lashes out when she doesn’t get what she wants. Because despite her desires to be a great woman, she has never grown past being a lonely child. She runs from her past because the one match she will never win is the one with her own demons.”
“This is also why she loves to strike fear into her opponents. She will threaten them just as I am certain she will threaten me. She wants me to fear her due to the fact that she wishes to brutalize me. Due to the fact that she will unquestionably cross every line imaginable in her attempt to bring me down simply to showcase the dominance that she has convinced herself that she possesses. She wants me to fear her because it is, in her perception, the greatest advantage she can take in this matchup. So at the end of the day, do I fear her?”
“Of course I do.”
“I have made this very clear in the past. Fear is something I embrace. When others allow fear to consume them and drive them to erratic behavior, it simply adds to my energy reserves. It keeps me sharp and focused on the task at hand. I am well aware of Miranda and her capabilities. She is someone who would not hesitate to put me on the shelf if at all possible. She was the first LAW Champion for a reason so despite my opinions of her and her mental and emotional state, I will not disregard her talent in the ring. I enter this match at full focus and full drive. Not only is this a chance for me to step up to a locker room bully who decided to put herself in my path, it is a chance for me to take down one of the best our federation has to offer and display that I can indeed be the true future of the company, just as she was a part of the foundation it was originally built on.”
“I have prepared for this career since I was only sixteen years old. Since before I even spoke the English language. Now all of my dreams are unfolding in front of my eyes. I have a world title opportunity at the time of my choosing. I am already a part of Team LAW for Collision Course. And this is all just the beginning. This is what the sleepless nights were for. This is why I endured the long drives to low pay bookings while training. This is why I learned an entire new language and left my family behind to move to another country with nothing but my backpack. All of the blood, sweat, tears... this is where it all led me.”
“I have trained tirelessly. I have mastered many submissions and found those that are most useful and suited to my liking alongside my trained flexibility to lock holds in from any position possible. I have taken my natural acrobatic abilities and adapted them to my own high flying style. I have pointed every ounce of who I am at becoming the greatest performer to step between the ropes of a wrestling ring. I have become the Perfect Storm.”
“I hope you are ready, Miranda. Because lightning will indeed strike twice.”
“‘Scuse me, Miss,” the little girl begins, “are you the lady from the TV?”
