Episode 26: A Post-Sweetest Winter
(COLD OPEN - The camera opens to Kayla Winters walking into the back entrance of the Bender Arena, wearing a jean jacket, black leather pants, and a matching blacktop. She has the Lethal Angel Championship over her left shoulder and a gym bag over her right shoulder. There is a look of determination on her face as she marches down the corridor until she sees a staff member looking down at their phone.)
Kayla Winters: HEY!
(The staff member jumps, nearly dropping their phone.)
Staff Member: Uh, yes?
Kayla Winters: Where is she?
Staff Member: (nervously) W-who?
Kayla Winters: You know who exactly I’m referring to. Do not play stupid with me.
Staff Member: I-I haven’t seen her. I don’t know if she’s even here today!
(Kayla nodded to herself a couple of times before abruptly walking away. The camera follows her to where she steps out to an unsuspecting crowd in the arena. “Money” by Pink Floyd suddenly plays as the crowd reacts as to LAW champion Kayla Winters making her way to the ring, snatching a mic from ringside, then sliding into the ring.
Kayla Winters: As you can see I’m still standing despite the overwhelming odds at Trifecta. I knew from the very day I entered Lethal Angels of Wrestling everyone was against me and it seems that included my former Sweet Winters partner Roxy, what I want to know Roxy is why you were part of screwing over at Trifecta, was it loyalty to OWA, or jealously of me because I’m LAW champion and your not, what is it Roxy, I want the answer before the end of tonight.
(Kayla smirks.)
Kayla Winters: And speaking of tonight, Videl Rose, you unfortunately have to to step into the ring here tonight in front of all these idiots here tonight, Videl tonight I’m just going to give you this warning, tonight, I’m going to snap you in *Censored* half, simply because your in the wrong place at the wrong *Censored* time, and Roxy if you don’t give me my answer tonight, well you don’t want to know what will happen.
(Kayla tosses the mic and exits the ring.)
(“Venom” by Icon for Hire plays as the Thursday Night LAW theme plays, showcasing various members of the roster, including champions April Song, Jessica Hendrix, “Big Sexy” Santana, and Kayla Winters at the end. The camera goes back to the arena where the crowd is hyped at the small display of pyro going off on stage.)
Melissa Flash: Looks like we can afford pyro now! Welcome to the fallout from Trifecta! I’m Melissa Flash!
Kat Ricci: And I’m her ride or die on the mic, Kat Ricci! As we’ve witnessed earlier, Kayla Winters is seeking answers from Sweet Roxy who seemed to betray her during the Champions Triple Threat Match at Trifecta! Roxy held JET World Champion Midori Miyamoto’s legs to keep her from breaking OWA Women’s Champion Natalie Cage’s pin on Kayla Winters. When Roxy was found out, both Natalie and Midori delivered vigilante justice! Thanks to Roxy’s selfishness, LAW went off the air with a bad look and from what I’ve heard, General Manager Madam Vega is not pleased!
Melissa Flash: Meanwhile we have a stacked show for everyone! Tonight’s main event will feature the champ herself going up against everyone’s favorite gamer girl, Videl Rose! We’ll also hear an announcement from Madam Vega regarding the much anticipated Lethal 500 Tournament and our next event, Finish Line!
Kat Ricci: Lethal Specialist Champion April Song will be making an address regarding her Specialist reign as well! But first, singles action!
Singles Match
Gloria Advincola vs Mikela Juhász
(Mikela climbs into the ring but the moment that she gets between the ropes, Gloria is on her at a moment's notice, causing Deanna to quickly ring the bell and this match is underway as Gloria starts to lay into the Welsh wrestler with some very quick and stiff shots her upper body and legs before Mikela is finally able to start trying to get in some strikes of her own)
Melissa: Damn, Gloria is wasting no time in showing us just what she is capable of doing in that ring with a literal hailstorm of strikes.
Kat: Gloria is showing off that tremendous MMA background of hers but she has to remember that this is a pro wrestling match and that she can be just as easily lose the match for being too brutal.
(Deanna, the ref for this match, gets between the two wrestlers and takes a few shots from Gloria before she finally manages to muscle the debuting star away from Mikela and purposefully gets into the face of Gloria who is backing away from the ref)
Deanna (w/o mic): Try that shit again and see how fast you're outta here!
(Gloria sees the full intent of the ref before her and holds up her hands as Deanna moves away from Gloria but indicates that she is keeping an eye on this match but as Gloria starts to move in with Mikela again, the Welsh woman quickly charges at her like she is going to go for a spear but instead, she quickly alters her footing and hits a Tilt-a-Whirl headscissors onto her instead, dropping her to the mat before she manages to quickly hit a basement dropkick followed by a roundhouse kick)
Melissa: And Mikela throwing moves quickly together here on the fly...
Kat: Yep, and now she's going for the pin!!
*ONE*...*TTWW...*
(Gloria quickly kicks out but does so in a way that she quickly locks her arms and legs around Mikela's body and rolls with her a couple of times before Gloria manages to get into a standing position while having Mikela's left arm at a tight angle that she then follows it up with two sharp kicks to the shoulder and armpit area of that arm, while keeping the arm up and away from Mikela's body that causes her to be unable to move properly)
Kat: And Deanna is quickly checking to see if the move is legal or not.
Melissa: I don't care if it's legal or not, I just don't like how Gloria has Mikela's arm like that...it's starting to hurt *ME*!
(Gloria suddenly gets a very vicious smile on her face as she then quickly attacks the arm a bit more with some stiff kicks before she quickly locks quickly locks in a straight arm lock onto Mikela in the center of the ring)
Kat: She calls this move the Glory Arm Lock!!
Melissa: Combine that with the damage that she's already done to the arm and...
(Mikela tries to fight back through the pain eventually finds that she can't and taps out as quickly as she can)
*DING* *DING*
London: Ladies and Gentlemen, the winner of this match via submission...GLORIA ADVINCOLA!!!
(Augstin gets back into the ring and holds Gloria’s hand up in the air and starts talking smack at the fans at ringside when both of them notice something and look back up at the entrance way)
Kat: What are they looking at?
(The camera then turns to show us none other than Miss Tara and Celes Dumont, Tara is saying something in the ear of her young charge while the “Death Dealer” seems to have a thoughtful look on her face at which point back in the ring, Gloria yanks her arm away from Augstin and makes a “what’cha gonna do?!” motion at Celes who simply smirks and mouths “Just wait” as the camera fades to commercial)
London Morris: Please welcome LAW General Manager, Madam Vega!
(“Cherry Bomb” by The Runaways play as Madam Vega walks out. She makes her way to the ring where she happily takes the mic from London and takes s a moment to let the cheering crowd die down.)
Madam Vega: Thank you, London. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome! I’m sure all of you have tuned in to our second crossover show this year - Trifecta - featuring the wonderful roster from OWA’s Odyssey brand! This reminds me, Odyssey is now officially part of the IJWF which qualifies them for a future title contention for the IJWF Championship! Now while we didn’t win our respective Interbrand matches, we do have NEW tag team champions in the form of Jessica Hendrix & “Big Sexy” Santana! Also, once again April Song has successfully defended her Lethal Specialist Championship! This time around, I’ll allow Song to decide her next opponent for our upcoming event, Finish Line, held at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, FL!
(Crowd cheers)
Madam Vega: Speaking of which, The Lethal 500 Tournament! Eight tag teams will compete against each other where the finals will take place at Finish Line, co-main eventing with the Lethal Tag Team Championship Match: Jessica Hendrix & “Big Sexy” Santana will defend their titles against Serenity Scorpio & Jocelyn Sky - The Dynamic Duo! The Lethal Angel Championship will be defended as well - with a challenger decided very soon. After the show, the competing teams will be announced on our website along with the cards for each match! The winners of the tournament will receive a trophy which allows them to cash in for a tag team title match at the event of their own choosing!
(Madam Vega smiles in approval at the crowd’s excitement.)
Madam Vega: Further details will be revealed as we get closer to the show. Please enjoy the rest of the night!
(“Cherry Bomb” plays as Madam Vega hands the mic back to London and exits the ring.)
Melissa Flash: Wow! For the first time in LAW’s history, the Lethal Tag Team Championships will be main eventing a marquee event! Jessica Hendrix and “Big Sexy” Santana versus The Dynamic Duo!
Kat Ricci: Now that leaves the Specialist and Lethal Angel Championships. I guess we’ll find out later tonight. Meanwhile, I can’t wait to see the teams for this tournament!
(Commercial Break)
(The camera opens backstage where Roni de Vil pays a visit to Madam Vega’s office.)
Madam Vega: Step in, the door’s open.
(Roni walks inside and takes a seat. She has an anxious expression on her face that she’s failing to hide.)
Roni de Vil: Hey boss. Listen...I want to talk about something-
Madam Vega: The Lethal Angel Championship, right?
Roni de Vil: (nods) Yeah. I think I’m owed a rematch for a title. Sweet Winters practically double-teamed me back at Homecoming and I doubt either woman could beat me in a one-on-one match. You know I’m the best wrestler on your roster.
(Madam Vega nods several times as she considers Roni’s words.)
Madam Vega: You want to prove yourself huh? Well, recently the Lethal Angel Championship has been recognized as a world title. And if you want to prove yourself as a world-class talent, then you should do it against a world-class opponent.
Roni de Vil: So who is it going to be?
(Madam Vega smiles slyly.)
Madam Vega: You’ll find out soon. In the meantime, I suggest you prepare like it’s the fight of your life.
(Roni raises an eyebrow.)
Roni de Vil: It’s like that?
Madam Vega: (nods) It’s like that.
(Roni grinned and stood up to leave.)
Roni de Vil: Perfect. Whoever comes for me, tell them to bring their A-game.
(Madam Vega looks on carefully and kicks up her legs as she dials her phone. A few seconds later, she puts it to her ear.)
Madam Vega: Hey darling, it’s me. I have a proposition for you…
Tag Team Match
Anna Clark & Olga Petrov vs Evelyn Bennett & Carla Luna
(As Carla Luna and Evelyn Bennett get to the ringside area with their opponents waiting for them, they look at each other and then quickly get into the ring and then all four women clash in the middle of the ring in a massive slugfest as Deanna calls for the bell)
Kat/Melissa: HOLY SHIT!!!
(Clark and Luna are at each other while Bennett and Petrov are trading blows as well until finally the ref is finally able to get the various wrestlers to act like professionals at which point Evelyn and Olga start for their respective teams at which point the two women start to trade vicious chops against one and another in the middle of the ring)
Kat: I had a feeling that this was going to be a very hateful, physical match but damn, I didn't think I'd be that on the money!
Melissa: Tell me about it, Deanna was able to finally get this match underway and now both Evelyn and Olga are trading some of the sickest chops in the middle of the ring as we speak.
Kat: Yeah, it's almost like they don't care that this is a wrestling match or anything.
(Olga finally takes one of Evelyn's chops too many and starts to explode with a series of punches, kicks, and Muay Thai knee strikes to the other powerhouse until finally she locks in a half nelson and tosses Evelyn across the ring with a snap suplex but the petite powerhouse simply gets back up and then charges across the ring at Olga, sending the both of them over the top rope with a very stiff lariat)
Melissa: Things are starting to heat up again as Olga finally had enough of trying to play nice and simply trade strikes with Evelyn before she just exploded onto her opponent like that.
Kat: Yep, one snap suplex later and HOLY SHIT!!
Melissa: No kidding, Evelyn Bennett didn't let that snap suplex phase her in the slightest as she charges across that ring and hits a lariat so stiff that it knocked the both of them out of the ring!!
(Deanna moves to start her count as Olga and Evelyn get back up to their feet at which point Evelyn has a look on her face that she has just had enough of it and starts to brutally lay into Olga who is more than happy to return the favor but then Anna comes over and looks ready to help her partner as she quickly climbs to one of the turnbuckles and then leaps off of it, attempting a suicide dive!)
Crowd: HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT!!
Melissa: Holy shit indeed, Evelyn caught Anna into those powerful arms of hers and she just took that reverse spin scoop power slam finish of Evenlyn's right into the guardrails at ringside!!
Kat: Yep, that is one Eve's Wild Ride that Anna Clark is not going to forget!
(While all of this is going on, Deanna starts her count again but now Carla Luna sees her chance and she hits a Tope Suicida on Olga as she tries get herself back intot he match when suddenly)
*DING* *DING*!!!
Kat: What the heck just happened??
Melissa: I don't know, but the ref is saying something to London.
London: Ladies and Gentlemen, the referee for this match has declared it a DOUBLE COUNTOUT!!
(Carla has a look of utter confusion on her face as she gets back into the ring and tries to convince Deanna to change her decision but the ref refuses as she throws up her hands in disgust before leaving the ring herself and heads for the back)
(The camera shifts to backstage where the Lethal Angel Tag Team Champions - Jessica Hendrix and “Big Sexy” Santana are standing around the locker room with their titles over their shoulders, talking amongst themselves. They’re soon approached by Serenity Scorpio and Jocelyn Sky - The Dynamic Duo.)
Serenity Scorpio: Looks like you guys are getting comfortable with those belts, huh?
Jessica Hendrix: And what of it?
Jocelyn Sky: Hey! We mean to disrespect ladies. We’re just looking forward to our upcoming match…
(Jocelyn and Serenity’s eyes linger on the tag belts. Santana takes a step forward in between her partner and Dynamic Duo.)
Santana: So are we...especially when we retain these belts.
(Serenity nods several times. Jocelyn takes a few steps back, smiling.)
Serenity Scorpio: See you guys at Finish Line.
(Serenity taps Jocelyn on the shoulder and Dynamic Duo leaves with Jessica and Santana looking on.)
(London Morris is standing in the center of the ring.)
London Morris: Please welcome...Lethal Specialist Champion...April! Song!
("Message To God" by Royal Hunt plays as April Song walks out to a loud pop with the LAW Specialist Championship around her waist.)
Melissa Flash: For nearly three hundred days April Song has reigned as the Lethal Specialist Champion. She’s taken on all comers and has proven herself to be one of the top faces of the company.
Kat Ricci: Some may argue that The Killer Bee is the undisputed face of LAW based on her title reign alone. Heck if you ask me…
Melissa Flash: Sounds like someone’s a little bit bias.
Kat Ricci: It doesn’t hurt to be a fan .
(April climbs into the ring and takes the mic.)
April Song: Man, you guys are too good to me, I swear. For nearly three hundred days I’ve worn this strap around my waist. I fought all contenders who came for me and prevailed each and every time. I have proven to myself and all of you that I am the true Lethal Angel of Wrestling. Which means I’ve arrived at a crossroads so to speak. I know for a fact that I deserve a shot at the Lethal Angel Championship more than any woman in that locker room, but yet I was informed by Madam Vega to wait my turn, due to a certain former champ getting a possible rematch.
(April walked around the ring a bit while shaking her head.)
April Song: Fine, I’m a patient woman. I can wait a little while longer for something that will eventually become mine. I was patient after my last world title aspirations my aspirations turned to dust and here I am, your longest reigning Lethal Specialist Champion. Which reminds me...my opponent at Finish Line. I was thinking-
("VORACITY” by Myth and Roid plays, interrupting April’s speech. Revy walks out, with a meek-looking businessman and a stern Japanese businesswoman trailing behind her.)
Melissa Flash: Here comes Revy. She was one of the many women April has defeated to retain her Specialist Championship.
Kat Ricci: She was one of the closest to defeat Song by nearly making the champ tap out to her own submission finisher!
Melissa Flash: Revy tried to play April’s game and lost, but it looks like she might want to try again.
(Revy receives a mic from ringside and climbs into the ring.)
Revy: Before you finish that thought, I have a proposition for you.
April Song: Proposition? What makes you think you’re in a position to offer me one in the first place?
(Revy smiles and moves a little bit closer.)
Revy: Because I’m the woman who almost beat you at your own games.
April Song: Almost doesn’t cover it. I’m still champ and your yesterday’s news. But, you know what? Let’s see what you're proposing. Come on, spit it out.
Revy: Well you proved that you’re the better submission artist between the two of us, but I wonder...who’s the better brawler?
April Song: I’m sorry to burst your bubble sweetheart, but I’m the specialist around here.
Revy: Okay, okay. You have the juice April. Then I’d wager that you’ll be willing to defend your belt...in a last woman standing match? Whoever can beat the living crap out of the other first, wins!
(April takes a moment to look over Revy and her business associates waiting outside of the ring.)
April Song: You know what? I’ll give you one more shot at my title. I beat you once my way and I’ll do it again...your way. But once that’s done, you can no longer challenge me for this title. Deal?
(Revy took a moment to rub her chin and consider April’s proposition.)
Revy: You know what? You’re on.
(Revy nods and climbs out of the ring where she converses with her new business associates. “VORACITY” starts playing in the background.)
Melissa Flash: Revy seems willing to do anything for a shot at that Specialist Championship!
Kat Ricci: She says she will risk any future opportunities she would have for April’s title - as long as The Killer Bee is champion. But, could April beat Revy at her own game?
Melissa Flash: April is LAW’s top specialist. Revy will not be walking away with the title so easily.
(Revy walks backward up the ramp as she and April have a staredown.)
Singles Match
Kylie Monroe vs Cassidy Vega w/ Kiki Kumiko
(The match starts out with both parties trying to feel each other out. Cassidy and Kylie lock-up in the center of the ring, but it’s Monroe that gets the upper hand. Kylie lands a couple of stiff forearms and whips Cassidy to the ropes. Vega counters with a running front dropkick. She attempts a Koji Clutch, but Kylie knocks her away and jumps to her feet. Cassidy charges forward, but finds herself on the receiving end of a back body drop. Kylie hits the ropes to go for a punt kick, but Cassidy rolls out of the way just in time and countered with a springboard bulldog. After several stomps, she applied a Koji Clutch. Kylie struggled to break free, but Vega kept the hold locked. Kylie stretches her arm and manages to reach the rope. After a near five count, Vega lets go of the hold. Kylie gets some breathing room and pulls herself up. Cassidy saw an opening and lifted Kylie onto the third rope and lands a slingshot DDT. She followed up with a pin, but Kylie kicked out at two.)
Melissa Flash: Kylie kicks out and seems to still be in this match.
Kat Ricci: Cassidy seems to be in the zone. She’s going to have to be careful!
(Cassidy picked up her opponent and whipped her to the corner. She goes for a corner shining wizard, but Kylie moves out the way, last second. Cassidy crashes and burns against the turnbuckle, but remains struck with her leg over the turnbuckle. Kylie sneaks behind with an Inverted Falcon Arrow. Instead of letting go, she picks Cassidy up and tosses her overhead with a Scot's Drop (X Plex). Before Cassidy could recover, Kylie lands The Blood Shot (Running Enzuiguri) for the finishing victory)
London Morris: Your winner by pinfall, Kylie “Freaking” Monroe!
Melissa Flash: What a surprise performance! Kylie has easily recovered and came out with the surprise victory!
Kat Ricci: Hopefully she can keep this up as a trend!
(Kylie celebrates and leaves the ring as Kiki slides in to check on Cassidy.)
(Commercial Break)
(Madam Vega’s office. The General Manager just finished a phone call when there’s a knock on the door, followed someone opening it halfway. When Vega looks up, she sees Jessica Rose poking her head inside.)
Jessica Rose: Hello, Madam Vega?
Madam Vega: She’s here.
(Jessica opens the door fully and her old Sugar & Spice partner Sidney Knight walks into the office.)
Jessica Rose: Sideny has decided to be my partner in the Lethal 500!
(Satisfied, Madam Vega nodded several times and shook Sid’s hand.)
Madam Vega: It’s good to have you back, Sidney.
Sidney Knight: Thanks. I’m eager to shake off some of this ring rust!
Madam Vega: Well you’ll have your chance to when the tournament begins next episode.
Sidney Knight: Beautiful! Let’s go Jess! The earlier we can prepare, the better!
(Sidney pats Jessica on the shoulder as both women leave.)
Main Event: Singles Match
Kayla Winters vs Videl Rose
(The match starts off with a collar and elbow tie-up in the middle of the ring. Kayla uses her experience to try and get the best of Videl, but her speed helps her stay one step ahead. This soon changes as Kayla counters a standing switch and catches Videl with a backbreaker, followed by a Single Leg Boston Crab. Rose fails to fight her off and instead finds herself at Kayla's mercy. Winters strengthens the hold, but Videl manages to reach the ropes in time. Kayla is forced to break the hold and hits the ropes to deliver a clothesline as Videl tries to recover. The move is well scouted and Rose counters with a back body drop. Winters lands on the apron but is knocked off with a roundhouse to the face. Feeding of the crowd, Videl goes for a springboard moonsault and connects, but lands awkwardly on her foot. Rose falls down, grabbing her ankle in pain. Kayla gets back to her feet and struggles a bit to roll Videl back into the ring.)
Melissa Flash: Rose took a risk but it worked against her!
Kat Ricci: Kayla Winters is not wasting any time! She wants to capitalize on the exposed weakness as quickly as possible!
(Kayla retaliates with a flurry of strikes, not giving Videl a chance to fight back. She delivers several swift kicks to her leg and throws her back into the ring. Videl tries to stand, but it's too much pressure and she falls to a knee. Winters hit her signature Snap Inverted DDT and goes for the pin but Videl kicks out at two. Frustrated, Kayla attempts a Sharpshooter but Videl counters with a drop toehold. She attempts to capitalize, but her broken ankle becomes too much and Song makes things worse with a dragon screw. Videl falls down once more and Kayla sees opportunity in her opponent’s vulnerable state. She seizes Videl’s legs one more time and attempts a Malibu Neck Crank. It doesn’t take long for Rose to submit to the Last Chancery submission. After the bell rings, Rose rolls out of the ring. As Kayla celebrates, her music cuts off, showing Sweet Roxy on the tron, clapping. Kayla narrows her eyes.)
Sweet Roxy: Good work, dear! I heard you were looking for me earlier, but I just left! Maybe we could meet up someday, preferably with that belt of yours involved. You are probably wondering why I did what I did...but isn’t it obvious? You don’t deserve to be champion. That belt should’ve been mine and you know it! You couldn’t even defeat Natalie Cage of all people! So I’m going to make it my personal mission to relieve you of your duties and show LAW what a true champion looks like. I guess this means I’m breaking up with you. I would say it’s not you it’s me, but we know the truth, don’t we. Toodles!
(As the tron turns off, Kayla throws her title down in anger, as she glared at the screen in anger.)
Melissa Flash: Someone doesn’t look pleased! Sweet Winters is officially done!
Kat Ricci: I think we all knew that Kayla couldn’t trust Roxy as far as she could throw her! It was only a matter of time!
Melissa Flash: With Roxy’s eyes on the Lethal Angel Championship, I’m sure Kayla would be more than happy to find an excuse to get some payback!
(As Kayla picks up her title and leaves the ring, the camera fades)
(LAW and IJWF logos buzz)
