"From Hiroshima, to the world. That is the message that The Ace of JET is trying to deliver. In this interview, we're going to take a look at Mizuki Nakata from every aspect. from her extraordinary work ethic in the ring, her will to accomplis the vow, as well as to adapt and survive"
--------------
Thanks for inviting me to your hometown. Hiroshima is always beautiful, especially during Autumn.
"It is, the Momiji leaves in here is different than the one you see in any places. during Autumn, the color of these leaves are so strong and beautiful to look and admire at. I personally love to have a walk like this just to admire the view but it's always raining around here. Almost every night so you better grab an umbrella close to you just in case."
Okay, First things first, Congratulations for capturing JET World Champion. After making a vow to recapture the title, you finally fulfilled that. How do you feel about this victory?
"Thank you for the kind words. Well, people said that my time is up and perhaps I should take a step back from this title contention. However, I have a work ethic and with this hardworking nature, I can't turn back or even slow it down. I gotta keep hustling and move forward until the point that when people said I need to step back, the others have to work harder than me, or keeping up with me at least. I won't stop, and when I can't stop, I do my very best. This victory is the result of my work ethic."
During Midnight Door closing segment, you mentioned that you planned to take JET into the new heights and will surpass the competition even in all the world. This might sounds like a bold plan but what brings you here?
"yes it is a bold plan indeed, but as I said earlier, I will keep hustling and even though I am JET World Champion, I still have a vow to bring the prestige of this title to the new heights. I said what I said because I am pretty sure there are no champion with the same never-say-die attitude like me. If there is one, that's good. I would be more than just happy to see how serious they are. JUNKO, for example, thinking that she runs the show with a number's game but when GENERATIONS are giving them an equalizer, I proved to her that her will is still not on my level."
and speaking of GENERATIONS. It seems like JET is having some kind of "faction war" and you gathered some girls to join your cause there. What is your future plan for the group and what do you expect from here?
"GENERATIONS was born because of JUNKO's DESPERADOS, I gotta be honest with you. We're the pride, heart and soul of this company and we will stand together to right the wrong. we dismantled DESPERADOS' power by bringing them a fair fight in one way to show them and everyone that JET is still in good hands. And if there's other faction formed, they will be treated the same, regardless of the motivations."
Now onto a rather personal subject as we speak about that, How's your family supporting your career those far. Everyone knows that you came from a rather established wrestling family.
"My family is pretty supportive, to say the least. Even though when I said that I will be the Mizuki that's gonna be different from them and will choose the different path than them, they still going right by my side. They let me to be what I am and they are perfectly find with whatever way I chose, whether in-ring or any of my personal matters."
Oh yeah, and about that too... How's your personal life going? Are you getting close with someone?
"My life outside wrestling is not too special. I took a couple part-time jobs when I am not training, I get a rather steady income from there. I also took a couple English language course as well since I think it's pretty important for my wrestling career too. And as for love stuff, I think I'd rather to keep it on private. I do close to somebody but I chose to not overly exposing this matter, plus, all of these are like my tertiary priority over my wrestling career and everything to make money. I sometimes have no time to think about all these love stuff. But we understand each other."
That's true. And back to wrestling. Recently you are traveling outside Japan to do some shows in America. How's that international journey going for you?
"Oh yes, recently I've signed to a company called Ultimate Future Wrestling Alliance. This is the place where Haruna Sakazaki-senpai spend most of the career here. I am really enjoying the place and actually this it the perfect place for me to step further outside my comfort zone as I try to explore the style that I have been in right now, which is hardcore matches. I was there as a part of their utraviolent division and I've been climbing my rank to be the contender for the Ultraviolent title. And so far everything works out according to the plan."
And I notice you are trying to do something different too. You leave "The Ace" moniker in Japan and going fresh there.
"That's right. I am holding on to the proverb of "When in Rome, do it like the Romans". When I am in a new place, I am adapting myself with that new place without bringing any achievements that I get in the other place. I love challenging myself and I am willing to start from the bottom, all the way up. With the same aforementioned work ethic, I think it's fun for me take a steady step to the top. That's why I came up with this "Furinkazan" war cry."
Care to explain that for us? Many people might not know what that is and how you are coming up with all that.
"So I love reading some historical literature and I come up with something interesting. During the Sengoku era, there was a fearsome warlord named Shingen Takeda, which is famous with his strong squad of cavalry and his war cry. It literally means "As swift as the wind, as gentle a the forest, as fierce as the fire, as unshakable as the mountain". This is a very interesting cry for me as in every battle, we need to adapt to all the situation and no matter how you're gonna adapt to it, you need to make sure to overcome and conquer all the situation."
So one last question to wrap up this interview. What is the 2022 Plan, or resolution if you will, for Mizuki Nakata?
"my plan for the upcoming year is that to broaden my horizon and see the vast field of amazing future ahead of me. I won't be stuck in Japan forever. as I already step inside the American soil, I want to keep going. I want to see the sacred ring of Mexico, I want to see the pure tradition of European wresling, even walking into an unpredictable territory across the world. with me carrying the JET, I hope everyone can see what my home really is by adapting to the environment and raise to the top, no matter how different these places are gonna be."
That is really amazing. Thank you for your time and I wish you a good luck!
"Thank you very much! It's been a pleasure to be in this interview!"
