I.
“Last chance”.
There’s something that’s supposed to be menacing about those words, I know that. Those words come with the weight of the very obvious truth being waved in front of our faces -- in wrestling, chances don’t come every day. Anything can happen. One wrong move and your career’s over. Or, worse yet, you have a lengthy career, but you never do anything of note because you didn’t take advantage of the chances that came your way. The idea that this could be my last chance at the time being to do something that matters would make a less confident woman nervous, but I’m Jasmine Peyton! There are people who will doubt what I’m capable of, since I’ve got a couple of losses to my name here in LAW. While it doesn’t make me happy to have to admit that, I’ve taken every single setback on my pretty chin and continued to press forward, with all the grace and determination that nobody on this roster -- barring Lieta, of course -- could hope to possess. When it matters most, I can deliver, and that’s why I’m not worried about what’s in store for Homecoming. This isn’t my last chance, but my next chance. Another opportunity for me to show why I am the fastest rising star in this entire promotion. Part of me wants to feel bad for the other women in this match. Really, truly! They’ll have to cope with knowing that the chance of a lifetime has just passed them by, and they’ll have to ponder what comes next for them. But not me. If nothing else, they’ll be able to take solace in knowing this unique opportunity is squarely in the hands of a woman who will make the most of it. A woman who will all too proudly lead this company into the future as the world’s most lethal combination of beauty, intelligence, and in-ring skill -- Miss LAW.
Tiffany Santana, we meet again. The last time we were in the ring together, you couldn’t quite seal the deal, darling. And I know what you’ll say to that -- “The only reason I lost was because you had help from Lieta!” If I remember correctly, you’re from military stock, right? You’re supposed to be some master tactician out there on the battlefield? What would your father say if he could see how careless you were when we faced? In his line of work, the difference between living and dying is having the common sense to completely scout your surroundings, and you couldn’t even handle that. The stakes are much lower for you, and still, you seem to fall short. Say what you will about me, but you’re far from nice yourself. The difference between us is that you try and take some of the edge off by maintaining that there’s some sense of honor behind what you do to people in the ring. Me? I’d prefer to embrace the realities of my situation. I may speak in niceties, but I’m not necessarily here to play nice. I have every intention of working smarter, not harder. When I say I survey every possible avenue of attaining a victory, I mean it, and just because people like you decided to play checkers when I came to play chess doesn’t mean I have to feel bad about a single thing that I do. When we’re out there next, there will be even more factors to deal with -- and I’ll win again. Two women, three women, four women, a whole battle royal, I don’t care! I can handle them all. Rest assured, Tiffany. The scenery might be different, but one thing stays the same. I will beat you again.
Daisy Thrash, you and I never crossed paths before now, and for that, I’m sort of grateful. I get it, you’ve endeared yourself to much of the masses with your goofy pre-taped sheriff vignettes and that quirky, march to the beat of your own drum charm, but ultimately your whole persona just makes me laugh. You march around here with far too much pep in your step for a woman who doesn’t have much to be proud of. I prefer not to walk into matches blind, so I’ve studied up on you. I’ve watched lots of footage of you getting beat up week after week, month after month in a bigger promotion. Something tells me that you hoped LAW would be different. Maybe setting foot in a new place was supposed to help you find that X factor that would help kickoff a career uptick for you. Keep your chin up, though! Maybe that day will actually come, but I can tell you, it won’t be coming as soon as tomorrow. I understand that in the company you came from, you faced women bigger, stronger, faster, and much more experienced than me. I might not be any of them, but I’ll get the best of you just the same. If you want your fortunes to turn around, I suggest you look somewhere else entirely. In the ring with Jasmine Peyton, you won’t find the golden ticket you’ve been looking for. Just another loss to your name that you can’t really afford.
Lieta my dear, I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am that you’re in this match. Really, it’s sort of a relief to feel like there’s someone who has any business standing across from me. We’re on the same page, aren’t we? Everything is fine as long as one of us walks away victorious? Okay, great! I’m so glad you feel the same way I do! God, I just knew we’d get along perfectly from that first day we crossed paths and agreed that we could get so much more done if we linked up and joined forces to take the opportunities we deserved. This is the first real test of that. Sure, that last tag match didn’t go quite the way we hoped, and our teamwork still needs a little ironing out, but what better way to show how in sync we are by dividing and conquering in this match? You and I both know that opportunity will be safe in my hands as it is. But with you watching my back? There’s no way I can fail! That’s why it would be best if you let me run point on this one and bring this win home, then we can share the spoils of war! That’s what partners do, right? What’s best for the partnership as a whole? Trust me, this is the best option. Jasmine Peyton is the best option for this match, for this promotion’s top prize, for everything! This match won’t have the winner it deserves, these fans won’t have the poster girl they want, but they will have the figurehead they need. The future will be bright -- and no star will shine brighter than me.
