JET 17: Sasebo City Gymnasium in Sasebo, Japan
(A recap of JET 16 is the first thing from tonight’s episode. Mitra Marvel and Natsu Toyama moving on to the semi-finals of the tournament meanwhile we heard from the Academy Champ for the first time since her successful defense against Midori Miyamoto claiming that Ai Moe will not be getting an opportunity. Along with that was the opening segment of Mizuki Nakata talking about how she might not have a match for Cinderella Story but instead was challenged by JET’s Monarch Nina Sanada who said her match against Nakata will be the end of her career. Later in the night a surprise return by JET President and OWA Women’s World Champion, Azumi Goto to challenge Momoko Honda to a match at the upcoming super-show.)
(Keyakizaka46’s “Garasu Wo Ware” plays as JET is live and we can see the crowd ready to go for tonight’s show. In the middle of the ring of the ring stands Yoko Kudo with a table assembled as we’re about to get started. “Fly Again” begins to play as from the back, Kimiko Hayabusa makes her way over with the RISE Grand Prix Contract Briefcase in hand.)
Hanako Nakamoto: Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to JET 17 live from the great city of Sasebo as we’re starting off with the contract signing for the JET World Championship match set for Cinderella Story. I am as per usual, “Ironheart” Hanako Nakamoto and this is Maki Fujioka.
(Kimiko Hayabusa waits as soon the music changes to “Holy War 21” and the JET World Champion makes her entrance wearing casual clothes like a shirt, jeans and shades. She is of course flanked by her stablemates Rei Kagura and Saiko Hotaru.)
Maki Fujioka: It seems the champ isn’t happy tonight, rumors were that she didn’t appreciate being taken away from the main event slot of Cinderella Story when the Board decided last week about it.
(KAGUYA enters the ring, raising the the JET World Championship on her shoulder for the world to see. Soon the music dies down and both women have a staredown, you can feel how much the two of them don’t like each other at this point. JET GM Yoko Kudo has to intervene as she begins to speak.)
Yoko Kudo: Alright break it up! I will not have my World Championship Bout be ruined because you two like to get in each other’s faces. I’m gonna let you two say your piece before the contract is officially signed.
(Kimiko is the first to pick up the microphone as the crowd cheer.)
Kimiko: I hate you. I really do KAGUYA, you become champion because you threaten this company’s livelihood if you didn’t get the shot. Let’s be honest, I understand the idea of your mentality. You’re the forgotten daughter of this company’s founder and if I was constantly compared to Azumi Goto or Stephanie Matsuda, I would be mad as well. You’re the third daughter but the one that nobody cares about. Even when you won that title, nobody cares because in the end it just made it that at Cinderella Story, you would be losing to me. Ironic, you adopt the persona of this evil general and yet… you pass like everyone else. I will make sure that you fall at Cinderella Story and I’ll be able to take my throne as the best wrestler in JET and the world champ of this company.
(Kimiko slams the mic in her hand on the table as the champ begins to speak. A smirk is on the face of KAGUYA as she looks at Kimiko.)
KAGUYA: That’s all you have for me? The RISE GP winner has that to say to me? Look you seem to be forgetting who you’re talking to. I’m the reason why Nina Sanada will be retiring her old-broken down body at Cinderella Story. I’m the most important woman in JET right now, you know who you remind me of Kimiko. All of the women I have beaten when it comes to this title all had something you have. The over-confidence that they can beat me. Old-Woman Nina thought she could beat me and yet, she really couldn’t. Azumi’s little pet project Tomoyo also believed and now she’s gone wherever in some streets. You aren’t any different Kimiko, you’re overconfident that you can beat me just like Tomoyo and Nina. I’ll make sure that like those two, you will fall to me.
(KAGUYA places the microphone down as she signs the contract and Kimiko follows up herself, there’s a brief staredown as the two of them raise their prized possession in the air. The RISE GP Briefcase and the JET World Champion for all of the Sasebo people in attendance to see. We soon cut to a brief commercial now but the final shot is them mouthing off to each other.)
(Cinderella Story commercial promoting the retirement of the Last of The Originals! Nina Sanada vs. Mizuki Nakata is now the main event of this can’t miss event.)
We return to ringside as the opening contest of the tonight is set!
Opening Match: Ai Moe vs. Virginia Atwood
A very special moment for tonight as Ai Moe was making her in-ring return and the crowd were electric for her. Chants of Ai Moe were echoing as she took on Blondetourage member and one-third of the JET Trios Champs, Virginia Atwood. Interestingly was that no-one from the Blondetourage was at ringside. The two women had a competitive bout featuring a lot of great sequences but eventually, the match ended with a Cross-Arm German Suplex followed by Love Is A Battlefield (Double Wristlock Knee) from Ai Moe to get the victory in her return match.
(Winner - Ai Moe)
Ai is celebrating her win, she is attacked by the rest of Blondetourage! Candice Blair, Vanessa Santiago, and Corrina Grey all attacking Ai Moe as the crowd boo. They seem to be pissed off as soon calvary arrives in the form of Yuki Takigawa, Tomoyo Hirate and Rio Kurokawa! All three women send Blondetourage on the retreat up the ramp as they check on Ai Moe, soon “Spartan X” plays as a pissed Yoko Kudo makes her way out from the entrance ramp.
Yoko Kudo: No! I will not have any of this right now, Blondetourage want to take it far and play by their own rule. Well they won’t, I’m in charge and I make the rules! So, Candice Blair, you will defend your Academy Title against Ai Moe! The woman who’s career your group almost cost! As for the rest of you three in Blondetourage. You see those three pissed off women alongside Ai Moe, those are your opponents for Cinderella Story! One way or another this will end at the Budokan. Now get out of my ring, this show needs to continue!
(Yoko Kudo leaves as a staredown and a face-off between the two groups ensues. We soon cut to a backstage segment seeing Momoko Honda, sitting in front backstage at tonight’s JET show. The young Joshi has a JET shirt and pair of sweatpants, feeling cozy as ever.)
"Last JET, everyone including Momo-chan experienced a sight. After match, after picking up a victory over Spring TORA. Few weeks, I's have been gained speed."
(Momo-chan smiles cheerfully.)
"Beginning I's won't doing good, maybe better than some. Sadly star warrior wasn't shinning most. Out of nowhere, bang!"
(She throws up here hands in the air.)
"You see star warrior flying, flying high in the air. JET 16, it all changed. After match, JET President and current OWA Women's Champion herself Azumi Goto. Came out and say to the whole-wide world. Azmui-chan wants to see what Momo-chan is made of the inside squared circle."
(Momo-chan pitches her cheeks hard.)
"Ouch! No dream, reality what happened was real. I's will get a chance, chance of lifetime to go one-on-one against best. The very best JET has to offer. I's get a chance to show world Momo-chan is future of Joshi. The heart and soul of Joshi."
(She raises her fist up.)
"Match is important, more than important by far. Momo-chan's biggest match to date. Winning could change everything. Not just for Momo-chan also for JET as all. Change the landscape as well know it. I's have worked for opportunities and Momo-chan has a a chance, chance of a lifetime to turn heads all already."
(Momo-chan's gets an intense look on her face.)
"I's will show what Momo-chan is capable of, recently I's has showed I can handle main event scene. This match will be the main event, eyes will be glued to this bout and Momo-chan gives a fight to Azumi and show the world. By winning this match, Momo-chan best known as star warrior can be champion."
(Momo-chan smiles but we all know behind that smile is excitement and an intense fury ready to broke out. The scene fades to black. We soon cut to ringside for the next match tonight.)
Tag Team Match: Sora Todoh and Julia Zhang vs. Magdalena Schumacher and Megan Enders
Tonight’s second contest featured a bout between four debutants, all with different styles. Both teams seem to not get along as they never truly gelled, other than the happy-go-lucky Sora Todoh, you who wanted to work with Julia Zhang. The man ending saw Sora Todoh hitting Megan Enders with a shooting star press after a red-hot tag that wowed the crowd. The protege of Cloud Matsuda has a sucessful debut alongside the impressive Julia Zhang.
(Winners - Sora Todoh and Julia Zhang)
(Post match it seems Sora wants to hug it out but Julia isn’t interested until the Shooting Star hugged her regardless to much dismay. We soon cut to commercial as the last shot before that is them celebrating their win.)
(Commercial Break for LAW Lethal Hearts event from Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California on the 24th of March!)
(We soon return to ringside as it’s time for the semi-finals of the Biggest Dreamer Tournament to begin!)
Semi-Finals: Mitra Marvel vs. Natsu Toyama
The first of the semi-finals saw the young Second Generation Goddess Natsu Toyama taking on the proud Sailor Sun Mitra Marvel. Both women competed in the same RISE Grand Prix block as that time Mitra got the win which eventually led to her being a finalist in the tournament. Both women had the crowd cheering them on as they couldn’t pick a favorite, Natsu and Mitra had everything to gain and nothing to lose in this tournament and both of them were ready to take the next step to JET Superstardom. The match eventually ended with Natsu’s Final Showdown Lariat being countered into a quick Solar Flare from Mitra Marvel, securing the Sailor Sun a win that she desperately needed.
(Winner - Mitra Marvel)
(Post-match you can see Natsu Toyama trying to hold off the disappointment in her eyes as she walked away and let Mitra celebrate her voice. Soon we transition to a video package as the camera starts with a retrospective of Nina Sanada's childhood in Mexico. As traditional Mexican music plays, clips of the Sanada family home videos are shown.)
Nina Sanada Voiceover: I guess I had an interesting childhood.
(Wrestling highlights of Nina's father, Gran Sanada are shown. This is followed by Nina's early career where she tag teamed with her sister Teresa.)
Nina Voiceover: My father is El Gran Sanada, the first Japanese wrestler to master the art of Lucha Libre. He combined this with Japanese Puroresu to create Lucharesu. He passed this down to my sister Teresa and I when we got into the business. We got our start in Neo Joshi Japan in the late 90s and was there for the tail end of the first incarnation of Lethal Angels of Wrestling.
(Nina's early days in JET is shown, where she faces off against women who would later become her rivals.)
Nina Voiceover: I was one of the first people Miss Manami signed when she opened the doors of JET in '06. She wanted someone not only was exciting to watch but can help develop a distinct way of fighting that could be unique to our brand. Thus, I was made the head trainer of the JET Saikyo Pro-Wres Dojo. Manami-sensei and Nakamoto-sensei would help, but they wanted Lucharesu added to the Queen's Road curriculum.
(Video clips of Nina's training sessions are shown, including her working with a young Azumi Goto and Stephanie Matsuda.)
Nina Voiceover: As much as I liked being a teacher, I loved being a champion more - five times over.
(Nina's first title win over Miss Manami is shown.)
Nina Voiceover: I won my first JET World Championship from Miss Manami on August 13, 2006. This made me the company's second world champion.
(A montage of Nina's historic 418-day reign plays)
Nina Voiceover: I...was quite attached to that belt.
(Nina's four other reigns are shown.)
Nina Voiceover: Being the world champion means everything to me. When you're the champ, you're the face of the company. Your values become the company's values. I'd like to think my quest for excellence influenced the promotion for the better.
(Clips of Nina's other accolades are shown - 2x JET Tag Team Champion; RISE Grand Prix Winner in 2007 & 2010; Best Bout winner in 2006 (vs Miss Manami), 2007 (vs Rachael Frost), and 2018 (vs KAGUYA). This was followed by clips of Nina accepting Joshi of the Year in 2007, 2008, 2010, & 2018.)
Nina Voiceover: Sometimes after you've done it all...you start thinking about the future.
(A scene of Nina walking around with a cast in 2011 is shown.)
Nina Voiceover: it doesn't matter how long one goes in this business without stopping. Eventually, the sands of time engulf everyone. I'd rather end my 20-year career on a good note, rather at a time where I can't enjoy life after wrestling.
(A rare and private moment with Miss Manami is shown.)
Nina Voiceover: Manami always said, "leave on two feet, not on four." I gave my life to this business and I thank everyone for their support. But... fishing is becoming more attractive as the days pass by.
(Nina is shown laughing and shaking her head. The camera remains on her until she stops laughing.)
Nina Sanada: I think I am ready for the next stage in my life. From what I've seen, this business is left in good hands.
(A rare picture of Nina, Stephanie, Azumi, and KAGUYA is shown. The scene goes back to Nina holding up a fist.)
Nina Sanada: If they screw up, they'll have to answer to me.
(As the camera fades, Nina continues to laugh, breaking the serious expression on her face.)
(We soon cut back to ringside as it’s time for tonight’s main event and second semi-final of the Biggest Dreamer Tournament!)
Main Event: Midori Miyamoto vs. Stacy DeVille
Tonight’s main event pit another former RISE GP matchup as the first bout in Stacy DeVille’s tenure in JET was against Midori Miyamoto and The Hybrid Dragon was going to make sure that the result wasn’t the same as last time. Both women were eyeing the idea of the finals and have a potential Title match against whoever was going to be JET World Champion going into the next season. Midori was the in the mood to win as she was on another level but Stacy didn’t let up, she was able to follow every moment Midori had with one of her own. The match was reaching its end near the 15-minute mark as Midori hit Suplex Mama with BURNING combination which sends her reeling back into the ropes only to return back to Midori and get hit with the Jumping Roundhouse she calls Shattercryst! Midori Miyamoto is able to get the victory and is moving on to the finals at Nippon Budokan!
(Winner - Midori Miyamoto)
(Midori is overwhelmed with emotions at the moment as she looks at the crowd who are cheering her on. “Lolita” by Lana Del Rey soon replaces “Ashes” as Mitra Marvel with a towel around her neck. Mitra simply nods as the two finalists of the Biggest Dreamer Tournaments are the final shot of tonight’s JET show as the camera fades to black.)
