JET 19: Live from Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, Japan
(A recap of the incredible night of action we have at Cinderella Story was on display, including the crowning of two new champions, Midori Miyamoto as the winner of the first ever Biggest Dreamer tournament and KAGUYA retaining her JET World Championship against the amazing Kimiko Hayabusa. The finals clip shows highlights from the main event featuring Mizuki Nakata and Nina Sanada with the end of the match as Nina Sanada takes her final bow as a professional wrestler. We now cut to ringside as a packed Shinjuku FACE crowd is ready to go for tonight’s show as JET's new theme song "Reimei" by Sayuri and My First Story plays!)
Maki Fujioka: After an amazing night that was Cinderella Story 2019, JET is back on tour for a brand new season of opportunities and amazing wrestling! Hello everyone, I am Maki Fujioka and welcome to JET 19 LIVE from Shinjuku FACE. I’m joined by my new commentary partner and former JET Ring Announcer Asuka Kuramochi, welcome to the table Asuka!
Asuka Kuramochi: Thank you so much, Maki-san! It’s quite an amazing feeling to be now a commentator for JET. Of course, I have big shoes to fill as I am covering for new JET President Hanako Nakamoto! Without further ado, let’s get started!
(We cut to ringside as to the shock of the fans, “Rage of Dust” by Spyair plays and out from the back comes Mizuki Nakata. The crowd cheer as the Chosen one enters the ring and is handed the mic by new ring announcer, Naomi Serizawa. Mizuki begins to look around at the crowd.)
Mizuki Nakata: I won’t take up a lot of your time as I know a lot of the girls in the back want to perform and really showcase their skills out to the world. But I can honestly say that Cinderella Story was the biggest night of my career. Bigger than winning the JET World Title or my first RISE Grand Prix or even me teaming with Haruna-san for the first time. I had the opportunity to cement my place as JET’s Ace. I was able to do just that, Sanada-san is an absolute legend and her career will forever be remembered as the career that helped JET grow but now I feel like I am truly ready to lead this company to greater heights. This past season was about me becoming the leader but I think it’s time I attempt to do something I wasn’t able to do at all last season. Win back the JET World Champion!
When we head to next year’s Cinderella Story, I will be the one who’s gonna stand tall at the end as JET World Champion. I promise that to every single JET fan in attendance and the ones watching around the world, I will become JET World Champion by the end of this season! Even if it means I have to go through friends such as Midori Miyamoto and others.
(Mizuki places down her mic as “Rage of Dust” by Spyair plays again and Mizuki Nakata makes her way to the back area.)
Asuka Kuramochi: Not one for talking a lot but a bold statement there by the Chosen One, Mizuki Nakata! She is someone with all of the talent and ability to be huge. Let’s hope that she can fulfill her promise.
Maki Fujioka: I hope so as well, but for now we’ve got some amazing ring action set for tonight! Let’s get right to it!
Opening Match: Hanna Rockford vs. Mizuho Miura
Tonight’s opening contest saw the JET debut of Hanna Rockford and she left quite a mark on the fans as she was able to completely dismantle JET Young Girl Mizuho Miura in this match. Hanna was able to show the full extent of her offense before Mizuho tried her hardest at a comeback but Hanna was the one left standing as she ended the match with a “Kiss of Death” (Panama Sunrise).
(Winner - Hanna Rockford)
(The camera slowly fades in. As it does, Midori Miyamoto can be seen sitting on a bench backstage. She is surrounded by various reporters and members of the media. A few of the reporters ask her to speak about the events of Cinderella Story. She nods her head.)
Midori Miyamoto: Cinderella Story was—
(Her words trail off as she pauses to think.)
Midori Miyamoto: This might be the most cliche thing I’ve ever said, however, Cinderella Story was magical.
(Midori nods her head once more.)
Midori Miyamoto: The Biggest Dreamer Tournament? It was something truly special. Why? Because it wasn’t just a series of matches. It was something far greater than that. The Biggest Dreamer Tournament gave each of us participants the chance to take destiny into our own hands. I understood that notion early on. It’s one of the reasons why I fought so hard, you know? I haven’t always been control of my destiny her in Joshi Extreme Takeover…
(A smirk washes over her face.)
Midori Miyamoto: But that’s not the case any longer.
(Midori nods her head again.)
Midori Miyamoto: Winning that tournament is a moment that I’ll never forget. And I’d like to thank Mitra for sharing that moment with me. Facing a skilled opponent like yourself made that moment even grander.
(She takes a moment to run her fingers through her hair.)
Midori Miyamoto: However, I’m sure there’s one last thing you’d also like me to talk about right?
(There was a short pause.)
Midori Miyamoto: The look that was plastered on KAGUYA’s face when I came out after her championship defense. It wasn’t the look of cockiness that KAGUYA is known to exhibit. It wasn’t a look of confidence either.
Midori Miyamoto: No—it was a look of fear. Why? Because KAGUYA knows that I haven’t forgotten the hell that she and her group have put me through. And she also had a look of fear on her face because she knows that I have the ability to defeat her. Our match at the RISE Grand Prix proved that. Her goons wouldn’t have interfered if she wasn’t on the verge of defeat.
(She pauses for a moment before she finishes up.)
Midori Miyamoto: I’m not some bright-eyed hopeful, KAGUYA. I never was. I’ve always been a fighter, a warrior. That’s how I was able to take my JET destiny into my hands. Our fateful battle is approaching. I’ll be ready to put you down when the time comes—but I don’t think you’ll be able to say the same.
(With that, the camera begins to fade out to commercial.)
(Commercial Break: Lethal Takeover is coming soon!)
(We return to ringside as we get set for tonight’s second match of the evening)
Singles Match: Machiko Hasegawa vs. Megan Enders
Tonight’s saw one more debut as former Japanese amateur wrestler, Machiko Hasegawa made her debut. Trained by JET President Hanako Nakamoto, there was a lot of expectations set on Machiko’s big debut match. The early stage of the match was all Megan as she was able to ground the power wrestler with no problem. Machiko was able to turn the tide in this match as she got some big chops and maneuvers in. She showed off why she has the nickname of “New Burning Spirit” as she began to absorb strikes from Megan and fire back with Machine Gun Chops. After the barrage of chops, Hasegawa put the match away with a massive Hasegawa Lariat (Short Range High-Impact Lariat)!
(Winner - Machiko Hasegawa)
(The camera cuts to Yoko Kudo’s office as soon enter the JET Trios Champions Tomoyo Hirate, Rio Kurokawa and Natsu Toyama all holding their titles. Yoko has a smile on her face as the champs take a seat in front of her.)
Yoko Kudo: So I know you three were very happy to win the JET Trios Championship and end the reign of the Blondetourage but I have some bad news.
Natsu Toyama: Bad news? What kind of bad news?
(Yoko looks at the champs before saying what’s been bothering her.)
Yoko Kudo: The board came to the conclusion that the JET Trios Championships will be reformed into the JET Tag Team Championships again as the division hasn’t been as expansive as we believed them to be and the board believed it was better to return these titles back to their original form. So I will need to ask you three to vacate the belts and hand them back to me.
Tomoyo Hirate: After everything, we went through to get these belts you want us to return them in one night.
Yoko Kudo: I understand the anger but I was able to make a deal with a board for the three of you. We will be hosting a tournament to crown the first champions but you girls will be in the finals, so everyone will be fighting for the last finals spot. The only problem with this is that only two of you three will be in the finals. I want you three to talk among yourselves on who is going to be left out in this.
Natsu Toyama: I’ll do it!
(Natsu’s partners look at her as she begins to explain.)
Natsu Toyama: I wasn’t meant to be in the Trios Championship Match at Cinderella Story, to begin with. I was there to help Te-chan and Rio thanks to Blondetourage hurting Takigawa-san. So if anything these two should get the shot as finalists. But I would like to compete in the tag title tournament if possible.
Yoko Kudo: Well that issue is covered, we will start the tournament on the next show in Osaka.
(The now former champs leave the office but Natsu is stopped by Yoko Kudo.)
Yoko Kudo: I want you to know that your mom would be proud of how selfless you’ve been. You’re making her proud. So I have your partner in mind and she’s someone that Azumi has high hopes for, just like you.
(The cameraman leaves the office as Yoko and Natsu continue their conversation. We now cut to ringside as our next match is about to start.)
Tag Team Match: Tori De Vil and Stacy DeVille vs. Mitra Marvel and Sora Todoh
Mitra Marvel coming off her massive loss at Cinderella Story was looking to have a massive bounce back win as she teamed with the young Sora Todoh to face Tori De Vil and Stacy DeVille. The two teams worked well as Tori and Stacy had the advantage in the early going, working on the young Sora and keeping her away from her tag partner until a massive hot tag near the end of the match. Mitra is able to clean house and get the momentum for her team. During the end of the match, Mitra attempts a Solar Flare but Tori was able to get a roll-up instead, getting a massive win for herself and Stacy.
(Winners - Tori De Vil and Stacy DeVille)
Post Match: We see Sora helping Mitra up and immediately apologizing for not being able to make the save, it seems that Mitra doesn’t mind and says it’s all good.
(We now cut to the backstage area as Candice Blair immediately barges into Yoko Kudo’s office who seems to be working on some papers)
Candice Blair: Yoko Kudo! I want my rematch for the JET Academy Championship right now!
(Yoko Kudo stops what she is working on and looks at Candice Blair.)
Yoko Kudo: You want what? A rematch for the Academy Championship? What do you think this is, you have to earn your rematch but to be honest with you Candice, after everything you did during your reign by having Corrina Grey and others in Blondetourage help you get the advantage, I don’t think you deserve one.
(Candice looks completely shocked and insulted as she stares down the General Manager of JET.)
Candice Blair: I had the Academy Title for 260 plus days! How dare you believe I don’t deserve a title shot, I was the Academy Division! Fine if you can’t give me that then I want a spot in the JET Tag Team Championship tournament! Give me and Vanessa a spot.
Yoko Kudo: You really think I would go ahead with that? I’ll make an exception and put you in there but if you lose then don’t you dare come to my office, yelling at me for a rematch.
Candice Blair: Fine!
(Candice leaves the office as Yoko Kudo sighs before the camera cuts to commercial break)
(Commercial Break: The new season of JET is underway but you can watch all shows in their entirety on the JET Archive.)
(We return to commercial as it’s time for our main event of Julia Zhang and Ai Moe vs. KAGUYA and Rei Kagura.)
Main Event: Julia Zhang and Ai Moe vs. KAGUYA and Rei Kagura
Tonight’s main event saw a unique tag team match. KAGUYA-Gun taking on the brand new JET Academy Champion Ai Moe and Julia Zhang. The opening minutes were all Moe and Zhang as they worked on taking down KAGUYA but one dirty tactic later, the match was KAGUYA-Gun was in control. Rei and KAGUYA constantly rotated with frequent tags and made sure to keep Ai Moe away from Julia Zhang. After a long period, Ai Moe was able to get her comeback as tries and reaches for a tag but Julia Zhang jumps down from her team’s corner… Julia Zhang is smirking as KAGUYA takes advantage as she plants the Academy Champion with a Vertical Spike Brainbuster before going to her corner and yelling at Ai Moe to get up! KAGUYA charges as Ai Moe is kneeling… PUNT KICK! KAGUYA with a Punt Kick as she now covers Ai Moe!
(Winners - Rei Kagura and KAGUYA)
(Post-match Julia Zhang re-enters the ring and immediately shakes hands with KAGUYA as Rei grabs a KAGUYA-Gun shirt from the outside and hands it Julia who puts it on. The three women celebrate as Julia now grabs the Academy Title and declares that she is challenging Ai Moe for this title. Meanwhile, KAGUYA laughs before having a cocky grin on her face and mouthing off to the camera and more importantly sending a message to Midori Miyamoto that she isn’t scared at all.
KAGUYA (off-mic): You will never win, Midori. Think of this as a message sent right to you!
(The camera fades to black as the logos for JET and the IJWF show.)
