JET 34
“Cinderella Story Tour Tag 3”
Date: March 4th, 2020
Location: Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo, Japan
The third night of the Cinderella Story tour started off with a message from JET to advise fans to stay safe with the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus but regardless of that, Cinderella Story will go on as planned. After that message, we get a breakdown on tonight’s card as we continue the Biggest Dreamer Tournament and build towards Cinderella Story 2020.
Singles Match/JET National Championship & Biggest Dreamer Tournament Rd 2:
Amy Slayton vs. Chloe Eastend
The first quarter-final match of the show as the crowd was definitely on the side of Chloe Eastend who has been impressing the Japanese fans more and more with appearance. Amy Slayton who wanted to make a statement by winning this tournament continued her run of wins as she was able to ground Chloe for majority of the match and Eastend’s comeback was a bit too late with Slayton getting the win with a Devil’s Dance.
(Winner - Amy Slayton)
KAGUYA was given free time to talk but the crowd didn’t want any of it especially after her attack on returning Stephanie Matsuda. Soon she finally spoke and told her story, how before the so-called “half-breed” Stephanie Matsuda and Azumi Goto, there was her. She was once the chosen one of this company but because she wanted to spread her wings and leave, Manami replaced her with both Cloud and Azumi.
There seemed to be some genuine hate coming from KAGUYA as she wanted to destroy Cloud’s legacy in any way possible and the War Queen handed that opportunity on a silver platter with an open challenge. Now she could do what she has wanted for so many years and it would be on the biggest stage in JET.
Singles Match/JET National Championship & Biggest Dreamer Tournament Rd 2:
Masumi Tsutsumi w/Narumi vs. Julia Zhang w/Rei Kagura
In the second Quarter-finals match of the show, it was Masumi Tsutsumi taking on KAGUYA-Gun’s Julia Zhang with the winner having a match set against Amy Slayton at the go-home Korakuen Hall show. This was a big opportunity for the two competitors, both ended up having a battle of strikes that eventually was won by Tsutsumi and she moved on to the semi-finals with a Sunset Densetsu. Assist goes to Narumi who helped her sister by dealing with Rei Kagura when she tried to help Zhang cheat.
(Winner - Masumi Tsutsumi)
POST-MATCH:
After the match, Masumi was confronted by her semi-final opponent, Amy Slayton. There seemed to be no fear between both competitors as both eyed the other.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
We had a segment talking about the history of the Academy Championship, how there seems to always be pressure on the champion as it’s considered that Academy Champions have the potential to be the top star in JET. The video soon talked about the champion and challenger and how Season 2 has been a huge year for both of them.
IZM’s amazing rookie year, winning the Miss Manami Tributary Gauntlet and constantly having amazing showings this year, meanwhile her opponent Momoko Honda rising up after ending last season with an incredible showing against Azumi Goto. Both have faced off before on the last day of the 2019 RISE Grand Prix where the match ended with a time limit draw. Now with the spotlight on them as they face off in the semi-main of Cinderella Story, one question remains.
Who is the future of JET and will walk out as Academy Champion.
Singles Match/JET National Championship & Biggest Dreamer Tournament Rd 2:
Hanna Rockford vs. SAIKO
After the massive win over JUNKO, the JET crowd was growing more attached to Hanna Rockford. She took on her second straight KAGUYA-Gun member. She and SAIKO squared off in what could be considered an even match in the early stages but soon the match was all SAIKO as she began to work on the leg of Hanna Rockford to break her down. Rockford put on a vaillant comeback and almost was able to put away SAIKO on multiple occasions. Her attempt to finish with a Gen Z Knee didn’t work as SAIKO dodged the attempt and got Hanna in the hold for a Psycho Impaler for the win!
(Winner - SAIKO)
A video for a pre-recorded interview between Mizuki and Maki Fujioka was next, Mizuki talked about how this past calendar year has been an up-and-down year and it’s been like that for the past two years. She spent majority of 2018 and 2019 acting as JET’s first line of defense and protector of the company. She hadn’t thought about the JET World Championship for all of 2018 and 2019 outside of her one attempt at Sakura Blooming. Mizuki knew that the World Championship was in great hands with Midori Miyamoto and her reign has established her as a big star for JET.
She soon reminded everyone that even though she hasn’t been JET World Champion since Cinderella Story 2018, she was still the company’s Ace. The person who wanted to see JET succeed more than any other promotion in the world. Midori wanted to see The Ace of JET then she will see at Korakuen Hall for the go-home show as they have one more tag match.
Mizuki was in the mood to steal the show one more time and this time she wanted to leave holding the JET World Championship for the second time in her career. It would unfortunately come at the cost of ending the successful reign of her close friend.
Singles Match:
JUNKO vs. Ruka Kojima
With the loss over Hanna Rockford thanks to Tarah’s intervention, JUNKO was furious and took every bit of her anger out on her opponent. Ruka Kojima wasn’t able to get any sort of offense going as JUNKO didn’t let the young girl breathe and spent the whole match brutally attacking her. JUNKO soon after only a few minutes hit the Dark Impulse but wasn’t done as she nailed another Dark Impulse. The destruction of Ruka Kojima didn’t end there as if to call out her opponent, JUNKO ended the match with Tarah’s Rude Awakening (Curb Stomp)
(Winner - JUNKO)
POST-MATCH:
In her post match interview, JUNKO made it clear that Tarah Nova isn’t going to be leaving Korakuen Hall in one piece. This was her bad decision and she was going to make her regret every bit of it.
Semi-Main/Singles Match/JET National Championship & Biggest Dreamer Tournament Rd 2:
Rio Kurokawa vs. Machiko Hasegawa
A battle of strikes was on display, unlike the match between Zhang and Tsutsumi that was more about who was the harder kicker. This was more of Machiko’s chops and forearms versus Rio’s chops. Hasegawa was able to slow down the match considerably and even get the advantage against Rio. It was a hard hitting affair as she neither backed down from the other but in the end, Rio’s shots to the head helped out immensely. A Rolling Elbow followed by the Catalyst Toll almost won for the Satsujin Kikai. Machiko fought out of the Ketsueki Toll attempt and nailed Rio with a Shotei that stunned her. Machiko rushed the ropes and back for a Hasegawa-Lariat attempt but Rio ducked and nailed Machiko with the Ketsueki Toll Suplex.
(Winner - Rio Kurokawa)
Main Event/Six-Woman Tag Team Match:
Momoko Honda, Sora Todoh and Talia Areano vs. IZM, Megan Enders and Tomoyo Hirate
The main event was given to the Academy Championship division with one team being led by Momoko Honda and the other by IZM. Both teams had an exciting match for the Shin-Kiba crowd, it was the champion and challenger that everyone was excited about but Megan Enders ended up as the star of the show as at one point, she took on all three members of her opponent’s team at one. Highlights of the match include IZM and Momoko trading chops and kicks respectively with neither backing down from the other. Tomoyo Hirate hitting non-stop release German Suplexes on all the members of the opposing team
The match ended up after 20 minutes of fun action as IZM was able to get the win, pinning Sora after a Redden Crush for the three count.
(Winners - IZM, Megan Enders and Tomoyo Hirate)
POST-MATCH:
Momoko was able to close the show last week but this time it was IZM’s turn as she made sure to let people know that she truly respect Momoko Honda and what she has done this past season. IZM made sure to let the Star Warrior know that she was excited about their singles match but claimed that she wasn’t going to let Momoko retain as IZM wanted to be Academy Champion more than anything else right now.
IZM finished off her post-match promo by thanking the Shin-Kiba crowd for coming out and hoping that they will attend Cinderella Story 2020 and the go-home Korakuen Hall show next week.
